Dear Actors and Families, This packet is filled with information, for you and your child, in regard to the FALL/WINTER MUSICAL ANNIE jr. We will be heavily involved from October 21, 2013 through February 10 th, The proposed show will run from Thursday through Sunday, February 6 th 9 th. Due to inclement weather, the show will run the following weekend. The dates for that will run, Thursday through Sunday, February 13 th 16 th. Please understand that if your child is cast in this show, they will be heavily involved for the time stated in this packet. Students that become involved in a full musical production need to know that this is an extremely large commitment. I can t express how important it is that you totally support your child if they choose to participate. I do believe that this will be a great experience for all involved. Thank you, Jerilyn B. 4 AUDITION PACKET (To be turned in at auditions) ANNIE jr. Director: Mrs. Jerilyn B. Audition monologue and song are provided. Student will also dance so please wear appropriate clothing and footwear. AUDITION FORM AND PERSONAL CONTRACT In this packet you will find: (Please initial) 1. Audition Form: Must be completed and accurately filled out. This form will be collected at the audition. 2. Personal Contract: This contract is between the actor, parent and director and must be completely read and signed by all involved. Please have this contract fully read and signed before your audition. 3. Audition Materials: The director will provide song and monologue in the audition packet. If the student wishes to prepare a song and monologue, that would be fine. Rehearsals: Regular Rehearsals will start on Monday, October 21 st, Technical Weeks: We will begin technical rehearsals approximately 2 weeks prior to the opening night of the show. Cast members are required to attend every rehearsal that pertains to their character. Rehearsals will be multi-leveled (singing, dancing and blocking), therefore, it is each cast members responsibility to check the projected rehearsal schedule on a regular basis and to also make sure to check any schedule changes that may occur. The changes will be posted on the drama board, or on the school s morning and or afternoon announcements. Cast members need to be picked up after all rehearsals at the designated time. It is imperative students have pre-arranged plans to be picked up in a timely manner for every rehearsal. We strongly encourage carpooling. an absence from rehearsal is ONLY excused if the cast member has prior approval by Mrs. Nacht or Mrs. Obendorfer. All conflicts need to be written on the audition form.
5 PERSONAL CONTRACT This contract agreement is made between the Director, Mrs. Jerilyn B. Nacht, the Student, and his/her parent or guardian. The contents of the entire Audition Packet should be discussed thoroughly by the student and parent or guardian in order to understand the commitments that must be made to participate in the production. By signing this contract, we understand and agree that: 1 Auditions: The decision to cast a student will be made, by the Director, according to the skills that are shown at the time of the audition. 2 Attendance: Students are expected to attend all rehearsals as scheduled by the Director on the rehearsal schedule. The only accepted excuse for missing a scheduled rehearsal is a full day absence from school. Upon receiving the third un-excused absence, the student may be released from the show by the Director. Detentions and Suspensions are considered un-excused absences and student will be subject to removal from the show. 3 MCPS extracurricular Fee: My activity fee has has not been paid for the school year. This fee must be paid within one week after student has been cast in the show. However, the fee does not need to be paid prior to auditions, and only needs to be paid once (for the whole year) no matter how many activities the student is involved in. 4 Community Service Hours: Each student will receive community service hours for this activity by filling out the proper paperwork and giving it to the director. Hours may vary, (cast members receive 20 hours of community service, where tech and stage crew hours may vary). 5 Communication: Student agrees to record any updates or changes made to the rehearsal schedule. 6 Preparation: Student will attend rehearsals prepared with all needed materials (script, pencil, prop, costumes, etc.). Student will also be expected to memorize all lines, songs, blocking, etc. Rehearsing on students time, at home, is a must! Student and parent/guardian understand that the quality of the production is dependent on the adequate preparation and achievement of each student. When a lack of preparation or achievement is evident, the director may place student on a probationary status pending improvement. 7 Behavior: Student will behave appropriately and responsibly at rehearsals and take direction cooperatively. He/She will keep quiet during rehearsals (in the cafeteria and backstage), eat and drink only in designated areas, remain in assigned parts of the building, etc. Student and parent/guardians understand upon inappropriate behavior, the Director will place the student on probation or dismiss him/her from the show. 8 All rehearsals are closed (limited to only those students performing in, or working on the show. The student agrees that his/her friends or acquaintances will not be permitted to remain at rehearsals. 9 If called upon, student agrees to assist with props, scenery, microphones, sound, lighting, curtains etc. upon request of the Director to keep rehearsals and show running smoothly. On the other hand, the student will not touch props, scenery,
6 microphones, sound equipment, lighting, curtains, etc. unless specifically asked to do so by the Director. 10 Students will behave responsibly during the evenings of the productions by remaining quiet and cooperating with the Stage Manager, stage crew and parents or teachers supervision other areas. 11 Costuming: Student agrees to provide, at their own expense, basic pieces of costuming that they will retain. Student agrees to care for costumes that are loaned or provided to them, and to return them promptly after the show in good condition. 12 Academic achievement: Student and parent/guardian understand the need for and express commitment to the student s schoolwork, completing homework and attending school while participating in the production. Time during rehearsal, when student is not directly involved, may be used for homework and study. Students who are on the school s official Ineligible list may not participate in the show. Jerilyn B.
