3 Singapore Writers Festival Literary Pioneer Celebrating Anne Lee Tzu Pheng This year, the festival celebrates Anne Lee Tzu Pheng, Cultural Medallion recipient and one of Singapore s most distinguished poets. Having written for over 30 years, Lee s poetic voice is at once intensely personal and universal. Lee will deliver the first ever Literary Pioneer lecture about her writing journey as a vocation. Visit Lee s exhibition to discover her creative life, inspiration, and legacy through poems and other personal memorabilia, and join her as friends, former students and colleagues share their favourite works from Lee in an evening of readings. Together with an illuminating lecture by Singaporean poet and academic Teo Sum Lim, this evening will inspire you to reflect on the Chinese adage 莫忘影中人, urging us to remember and cherish our loved ones before our eyes. With deep interests across literature, visual arts, culture, education and digital technology, Chua Chee Lay s literary writings reflects his diverse influences and spans across modern poetry, prose, song lyrics, short stories. Chua holds a PhD in East Asian Language and Literature from the University of Wisconsin and his writing is imbued with the lyricism and subtlety of Eastern poetry. He continues to experiment with different forms, from more formal, rhythmic styles, to satire, and even majestic, epic forms. In 2015, Dr Chua was the first writer selected to represent Singapore in the Singapore-France Writing Residency. The session will culminate with Jonathan s presentation of one of Wagner s operatic master pieces. He will be accompanied by pianist, Kseniia Vokhmianina, from Ukraine.

11 Hiring our Spaces Screening Room The Arts House is the oldest public building still standing in Singapore. Combining rich historical values with charming spaces, the House is the ideal venue for your events. Chamber Formerly the Parliamentary Chamber where Members of Singapore Parliament gathered, it is now popularly used for recitals, performances and conferences. Gallery I Screening Room This 75-seater film theatrette, used to house several offices during the Legislative Assembly and Parliamentary years in the late 20th century. Gallery I The exposed brick entrance into Gallery I reveals the oldest feature of the Old Parliament House. This unique space is best used for exhibitions and cocktails. Play Den The Play Den, now a Black Box theatre, served as the General Office for Singapore's first Chief Minister, Mr David Marshall. Play Den
