2 POST THEATRE COMPANY The mission of the Post Theatre Company The mission of the Post Theatre Company is twofold: to provide a production laboratory, which approaches as closely as possible the conditions of a working professional theater; and to present exceptional live theatre. The program is among the top theatre training programs in the nation. Acting students receive a broad range of training, which includes traditional and non-traditional theatre practices. LIU Post is one of the only undergraduate programs in the country to offer Suzuki training a rigorous physical discipline designed to increase an actor s focus and concentration as part of its core curriculum. Graduates of the program are strong theatre artists who can meet the challenges of this rapidly changing and multi-faceted field.

3 The Post Theatre Company is staffed by professional working artists and regularly commissions guest artists to work closely with the students. Past productions have won regional, national, and international recognition in the areas of direction, design, ensemble acting, and playwriting. The 2011 production of Re-Membering Antigone received five awards at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. In 2014, the production Conditions of Love traveled to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. In 2016, That Art Thou performed at the International University Theatre Association s World Congress in Manizales, Colombia. The company has also performed internationally in the Czech Republic, Italy, Canada, Greece, and Cyprus. The Post Theatre Company is the not-for-profit resident theatre company of the Department of Theatre, Film, and Dance at LIU Post. All ticket revenue goes into a scholarship fund for theatre students at LIU Post. The Little Theater is located on Post Road across from the library at LIU Post. The campus is located on Northern Boulevard (Route 25A) between Glen Cove Road and Route 107. We suggest that you arrive at least 30 minutes prior to showtime, as seating is by general admission and parking is sometimes difficult. Seating and staging vary by production and audience members may be required to climb stairs to enter the theaters. Please contact the company directly regarding handicapped accessibility.

5 Comedy of Errors By William Shakespeare Directed by Ryan Quinn October 6-8 and 12-15, 2017 Shows 7:30 p.m. 3 p.m. Matinees on October 8 and 15 PTC takes on Shakespeare s farcical romp about two sets of twins separated at birth. When they all find themselves in the same place, mistaken identities, accusations of infidelity and theft, and wrongful arrests ensue. How to discover the truth? At Shakespeare s Globe all roles were played by men: for this PTC production all roles are played by women! Spring Awakening Book & lyrics by Steven Sater Music by Duncan Sheik, based on the play by Frank Wedekind Directed by Stephen T. Davis November and 16-19, 2017 Shows 7:30 p.m. 3 p.m. Matinees on November 12 and 19 Sex, death, and rock and roll come to the PTC stage in this dark musical focusing on teenagers coming-of-age in a repressive society. A celebration of self-discovery, sexual awakening, and youthful rebellion, culminating in a searingly emotional surprise ending. Peter/Piper by Trista Baldwin February and 22-25, 2018 Shows 7:30 p.m. 3 p.m. Matinees on February 18 and 25 Rifle Range Theatre Peter, Piper and Claire are close siblings; peas in a pod. Piper s just gotten engaged and Claire s just graduated from college; as they celebrate their lives beginning, their younger brother s life suddenly ends. Peter s death sends Claire home searching for answers, while Piper escapes to a city of decadence, cutting all ties. The distance and grief threaten what remains of their family - until Piper reaches the limits of escape.
