1 Atlanta Public Schools Presents SELMA FOR STUDENTS January 16, 2015 Details and Show times for Participating Atlanta Area Theaters (King Holiday Weekend) APS students in grades 9 12 are invited to view the Academy Award nominated feature film SELMA free at participating Atlanta area theaters. Students can show their student ID or current report card at the box office of any participating Atlanta theater to receive their free tickets. SELMA chronicles Dr. Martin Luther King s 1965 campaign to secure equal voting rights in the face of violent opposition. This film is rated PG 13 for disturbing thematic material including violence, a suggestive moment, and brief strong language. For parent review on the subject matter you may visit: reviews/selma and details The film s educational outreach includes a curriculum guide with 11 interdisciplinary lesson plans in Social Studies, ELA, Geography, Math and Art. All lessons meet Common Core State Standards. 5 Message from REGAL THEATER: "Due to the high demand and popularity of the Students for Selma Program, all Free Student Tickets are only available at the participating theatre's box office on a first come, first serve basis WHILE SUPPLIES LAST. Please contact or go to the theatre's box office directly to inquire about the Selma Student Free Ticket Program to see if free tickets are still available as some theatres have already sold out. The theatres will be open each day approximately 30 minutes before the first show time of any movie of the day. So please plan accordingly in order to ensure the theatre is open upon your arrival. Remember the free ticket program is for students as indicated. If you are a teacher, and need a block of tickets for your students, please bring a school ID to the theatre for teacher verification."
