Event Description: The 2017 Soup for a Cause is Volunteers of America s signature fundraising event that raises critically needed funds for services in the Rapid City community. Soup for a Cause is a wonderful, family-friendly event featuring gourmet soups donated and served by local restaurants, churches and organizations as well as unique bowls, children s games and prizes. Featuring glowing floats covered in thousands of lights, horse-drawn carriages, animated scenes on flatbed trucks, sparkling vehicles, animals adorned in holiday décor and so much more! The Parade has earned its reputation as the premier winter event in SD. For the past 19 years, the Festival of Lights parade has been held in downtown Rapid City on the Saturday following Thanksgiving. Over the years, the parade has grown to have almost 100 different entries from local businesses, civic groups, churches, and friends. The Parade provides a terrific

2 opportunity to share in the fun and show off some holiday spirit! Huge crowds and a televised broadcast make the event exciting for participants and viewers, young and old. This event is in memory of Rosalie Little Thunder. Over 40 Native American artists and craftspeople from Rapid City and area reservations will offer art and craft for sale. However, ice skating rates range from $5 to $8, which doesn t include skate rental fees. Event Description: Help usher in the holiday season with a festive celebration that includes ice skating, tree lighting, Santa Claus arrival and musical performance.
