2 It is always exciting to begin a new season of shows at the Fargo Moorhead Community Theatre, and this season is no exception! FMCT has a fabulous lineup of shows this season, sure to entice and entertain audiences of all ages. In addition, we are excited to welcome our new Artistic Director, Mr. Adam Pankow, and look forward to the various talents and skills he will bring to all aspects of FMCT. Beyond the stage, we are continuing to build an administrative team that will best meet our needs and continue to grow FMCT, welcoming a new Development Director and Marketing Coordinator to the office, and strengthening and streamlining our board practices. In addition to our lineup of shows, FMCT is developing and scheduling a variety of other community events and activities throughout the year. In the season, we will present Cocktails and Cabaret, trivia nights, and additional outreach programs. New this season, we are happy to provide sensory-friendly performances for select shows to those community members with special needs, including those on the autism spectrum, deaf/hard of hearing, and visually impaired. Eloise Breikjern Executive Director A mix of old and new, the familiar and the unexpected; that is what is in store for year 71 at the Fargo Moorhead Community Theatre! This season enjoy a classic stage thriller, Dial M for Murder, our Theatre for Young Audience selections, Charlotte s Web and The True Story of the Three Little Pigs, the nostalgia-filled, big band holiday musical, The 1940 s Radio Hour, and two contemporary local premieres: the heart-warming and hilarious play, Calendar Girls, and the rollicking musical theatre caper, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. The work of FMCT extends beyond what is showcased on our mainstage with additional programming in and out of our building and throughout the community. This blend of old and new in the coming year applies to our educational work with classes and camps, to special limited-engagement events like Cocktails and Cabaret, and to semi-regular social events we have planned like theatre-themed trivia nights. Our theatre is working hard to be a catalyst for quality, accessible programming for both staunch and casual stake-holders who understand the role the arts can have in nurturing a community. We hope that you ll join us throughout the coming year as we aim to engage, educate, and entertain individuals of all ages and backgrounds with our diverse season featuring the old and the new. 4 D i al f r M Murder Written by Frederick Knott Directed by James B. DeBrito October 6, 7, 13, 14 7:30pm October 8, 15 2pm Produced by arrangement with DRAMATISTS PLAY SERIVCE, INC. Made famous by Alfred Hitchcock s film, this plot-twisting play features a straying husband who frames his wife for the murder of a man he had hired to kill her. Intrigue takes a starring role in Dial M for Murder while the mystery of who may die and who will come out alive unravels center stage.

5 Charlotte s Web Adapted from the book by E. B. White By Joseph Robinette Directed by Shanara Lassig November 10, 11 7:30pm November 12 2pm Produced by special arrangement with THE DRAMATIC PUBLISHING COMPANY of Woodstock, Illinois Charlotte s Web, based on the beloved classic by E.B. White, brings the barnyard to life in a joyous adaptation to be enjoyed by young and old together. A poignant tale filled with humor and heart, the unlikely connection formed between some pig and one resourceful spider proves true friendship knows few limits.

6 The 1940's R adio Hour Book by Walton Jones Music by various composers December 8, 9, 15, 16 7:30pm December 10, 17 2pm 1940s Radio Hour, The is presented by special arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH, INC. Take a sentimental journey back to bygone days when folks gathered around the radio seeking moments of song and story to raise one s spirits while seeking respite from troubles at home and abroad. This holiday season, join the cast of The 1940 s Radio Hour for a live Christmas special that will keep toes tapping and hearts singing throughout the behind-the-scenes antics that occur on and off the air.

7 THE TRUE STORY OF THE THREE LITTLE PIGS! Written by Robert Kauzkaric, Paul Gilvary, and William Rush February 3, 4 2pm Produced by special arrangement by Playscripts, Inc. ( A musical delight for all ages, this pork-filled tale finally puts the Big Bad Wolf on trial for the destruction and dismay he caused to not one, not two, but three poor little pigs. But is the Wolf actually guilty, or can he shake off familiar accusations and convince an audience of skeptics that he is actually friend to swine, and not foe? What really is The True Story of the Three Little Pigs?

Calendar Girls Based on the Miramax motion picture by Juliette Towhidi and Tim Firth Directed by Lori Koenig March 16, 17, 23, 24 7:30pm March 18, 25 2pm Calendar Girls is presented by special arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH, INC. What happens when eight strong women put their heads together to raise money for a local hospital cancer wing after the death of a loved one? They make a blush-inducing calendar, of course! Calendar Girls is a heart-warming comedy that tackles the topic of grief, while celebrating the tenacity, creativity, and sass of the female bond.

11 Book By Jeffery Lane Music and Lyrics By David Yazbek Based on the film Dirty Rotten Scoundrels written by Dale Launer and Stanley Shapiro & Paul Henning Directed by Adam Pankow April 20, 21, 27, 28 7:30pm April 22, 29 2pm DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. Keep an eye open for those Dirty Rotten Scoundrels! This 11-time Tony Award nominee is a hilarious battle of cons that will keep audiences laughing, humming, and guessing all the way to the French Rivera. Based on the 1988 film starring Steve Martin and Michael Caine, this high-energy musical caper is a local premiere.

12 Fall 2017 Education Classes Telling Tales: Storybook Princesses and Princeses Ages 4-5 Saturdays a.m. Explore what it means to make a story come alive for an audience. Through games and exercises that integrate student s physical and vocal instruments, characters and settings will begin to be realized and brought to life. Spotlight Stories: Wacky Witches and Wizards Grades 1-2 Saturdays 11:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. Take storytelling to the next level through team-building scenarios that allow students to explore their individual imaginations while also utilizing valuable ensemble skills to bring stories front and center in performance. Stage Creations: Mysteries and Mayhem Grades 3-4 Saturdays 12:30-1:30pm The creation of a performance is much more than meets the eye. Students will dive deep into the elements of plot and characterization as they create and perform their own tales and characters as an ensemble of actors. Performing the Song: Music from The Lion King Grades 1-4 Saturdays 1:45 p.m. - 2:45 p.m. This class illuminates the vocal qualities of each student both individually and physically. Students will learn how to tell a story and present a character through song as well as learning basic vocal skills including breathing, harmony, rhythm, diction, and resonance. Note: Must be currently taking or have already taken Spotlight Stories or Stage Creations courses. Acting: Auditioning and Ensemble Building Grades 5-8 Saturdays 1:45 p.m. - 3 p.m. Building the perfect audition can be a challenging and daunting process. This course begins with the ins and outs of putting together an audition package that best showcases the individual performer and segues into various improvisational exercises that help to effectively build natural instincts and perfect realism in performance. Fall classes begin Saturday, September 23 and run six weeks until October 28. Student showcase Sunday, October 29.
