September 8, 9, 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 2017 Written by John Van Druten Directed by Kevin Barnes Take three witches, a bewildered young man and a rather wicked cat. Mix with a good glug of humour, stir in a dollop of desire. The result? A deliciously dark tale of treachery and enchantment that will leave you spellbound Gillian Holroyd leads a charmed life. And when her eye falls on the man upstairs, she soon has him under her spell. But the family are far from impressed and get down to some hocus pocus of their own. It s a war of the warlocks with a hapless human playing mortal in the middle. What begins as an amusing game rapidly becomes more devilishly dangerous. Torn between two worlds, Gillian is forced to answer the age-old question is love always worth the sacrifice? Bell, Book and Candle was County Players first show, produced in May 1958 and directed by Peter Edman, one of the company s founding members and its first president. This marks its second appearance at County Players. 7 WAIT UNTIL DARK You Can t Take It With You November 3, 4, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 2017 Written by Frederick Knott Directed by Anna Marie Paolercio February 9, 10, 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, 2018 Written by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman Directed by Michael Frohnhoefer Are you afraid of the dark? Wait Until Dark is one of those rare experiences in the theatre, a true thriller that has the potential to make you jump out of your seat. Written for the Broadway stage in 1966 by Dial M for Murder scribe Frederick Knott and turned into a film starring Audrey Hepburn in 1967, Wait Until Dark still has the power to horrify us. Woven with secret identities, a seedy drug smuggling ring, murder, and the cruel cat-and-mouse game between a blind woman and the trio of criminals who stalk her, this play possesses a white-knuckle suspense. Wait Until Dark is a slow burn that builds in menace until the gripping climactic confrontation between its protagonist Susy Hendrix and the terrifying Roat. We apologize in advance for the increase in your electric bills when you refuse to turn off your lights after seeing it! Wait Until Dark was first produced by County Players in October 1975 under the direction of Glenn Casale, who directed and appeared in several County Players shows in the 70s/80s before he moved out west to direct professional theatre. This will be its second appearance on the County Players stage. DARK Meet the Sycamores a madcap clan who sets the bar for eccentricity. When Alice brings her high society fiancé home to meet the parents, fireworks (figuratively and literally) nearly bring the house down. Despite their zany antics and unconventional ways, this tight-knit family offers hope that love and laughter lead to happiness, even in the hardest of times. One of the most popular and successful comedies in American theatre, this Pulitzer Prize-winning, depressionera classic has a timeless appeal. You Can t Take It With You was first produced in February 1988 during County Players 30th Anniversary season and was directed by our current County Players president, Anna Marie Paolercio. This will be its second time on the County Players stage. A lot of shows can make you laugh. What s rare is a play that makes you beam from curtain to curtain. - NY Times A true thriller to make you jump out of your seat!... a play that makes you beam from curtain to curtain. - NY Times 13

8 Board of Governors Anna Marie Paolercio, President Christine Crawfis, Vice President Jeff Wilson, Business Manager Jody Coleman, Secretary Roger D Aquino, Treasurer Steve Stefanchik, Assistant Treasurer Kevin Barnes Jeffery Battersby May 4, 5, 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 2018 Based on a Story and Characters of Damon Runyon Music and Lyrics by Frank Loesser Book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows Directed by Christine Crawfis Barbara Greenberg Joe Pettignano David Ringwood One of the best musical comedies of all time. Guys and Dolls features one of the greatest scores ever written by the legendary Frank Loesser, masterfully witty book and lyrics by Joe Swerling and comedy legend Abe Burrows, and those glorious Damon Runyon characters who have become classics in the world of musical theatre. The plot involves the unlikeliest of romantic pairings: a highrolling gambler and a save-your-soul missionary, a showgirl dreaming of the straight-and-narrow and a crap game manager who is anything but. Place your bet on love conquering all in this hilarious classic that defined Broadway s Golden Age. The show that defines Broadway dazzle. - NY Times Guys and Dolls made its first appearance on the County Players stage in June Directed by Peter Edman, it was the second musical ever produced by the company. Some of the original cast included Bernice Edman, Art Weinberg, Peg Kanter, James Russell, and Henry Taylor all founding members of the company. Guys and Dolls was produced for a second time in May of 1981 and was directed by Glenn Casale. This is its third appearance on the County Players stage, making it one of only four shows to make three appearances on our stage. Kathy Schroeder Volunteer Volunteering is a perfect opportunity to learn and experience what it takes to put on a theatrical production. If you are interested in volunteering to work on one of our shows, please our volunteer coordinator at volunteering@countyplayers.org or leave a message on our Box Office voic at Volunteer positions are available in the front of house, production areas, and behind the scenes.
