10 DecembeR 2017 Sun Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Sat 1 2 Final Popcorn Payment Due Popcorn Jedi Party January Top 100 Big Spin Party Code of Conduct (FOR STORE FRONT / BOOTH SALES) Guidelines for Scouts & Leaders Selling Popcorn Each popcorn booth will have a minimum of 4 people present at all times. That includes two (2) deep leadership and two (2) scouts. All Scouts participating at a popcorn booth, or walking a neighborhood to sell popcorn will wear their Class A uniform. It is recommended that at least one adult volunteer of the two deep leadership also be in Class A uniform. The Scout and/or adult volunteer will not participate in the act of panhandling (i.e., directly asking for the donation of money instead of selling popcorn). There will be no more than four (4) scouts per shift at any given popcorn booth. All storefront popcorn booths will be setup in the area designated by the store manager. The Scouts will not ambush or crowd customers as they come in and out of the store. The boys will stay 8 10 feet away from the door or at a distance as designated by the store manager. If by chance two scout units show up to the same storefront to sell popcorn, the adult volunteers will work out the issue without involving the store manager. No more than one unit per storefront. All Scouts and adult volunteers will use clean and kind language. There shall be no profanity, put-downs or verbal taunting, as this is unacceptable. All Scouts will behave in a friendly manner. Punching, play fighting, throwing objects, choking, and any deliberate attempt to cause physical harm is unacceptable. The Scouts and adult volunteers will always abide by store rules when selling at a storefront or on business property, in addition to the other bullet points on this document. ALL CASH DONATIONS units receive during store front sales will be put towards their Hometown Hero sales. 8

21 Additional Sales Tips Communications Teach your Scouts how to sell safely. The Kickoff Party is a great opportunity to present a lot of important information. Utilize the communication tools on sell.trails-end.com. Send weekly or bi-weekly s to families with timely information. Talk popcorn at all Unit and Den/Patrol meetings throughout the sale. Post a sale tracker / thermometer so everyone can see sale goal status. Keep momentum going and provide encouragement. Recruit a Team You can do this on your own but it s not a good idea. Ask your fellow leaders and parents to help you with The Kickoff Party look for someone with enthusiasm. Distribution to pick up and transport the popcorn. Communication to keep everyone informed and motivated. Storefront Sales to book and coordinate storefront shifts for your unit. Popcorn Chief (a Scout) ask your top selling Scout to serve as your Co-Kernel. unit incentives Scouting activities that THEY planned Experiences field trips, weekend getaways, sporting events, etc. Little Things for selling $100, $200, $300, etc. Fishing poles and gear Camping equipment Video games / small dollar gift cards Pizza party & Ice Cream socials Pie in the Face Ask your Scouts what they want you might be surprised! 19
22 Additional Sales Tips Storefront Sales Ask store manager for permission several weeks in advance. Assign Scouts (2-3) and parents in two hour blocks. Keep Scouts engaged with customers not sitting or staying behind the table. DO NOT open up microwave boxes. Create and display banners signs. The best signs are the ones made by Scouts to show what they do for the community and to highlight their program. Divide sales equally among Scouts who participate. Apply donations received towards your Hometown Hero s or military sales. Door-to-Door Practice the sale script with your Scouts. Have your Scouts start out covering their own street first, and expanding outward from there. Sell as a Unit Have a unit Blitz Day to kick off the sale (award prizes). Remind your Scouts to wear their Class A uniform. New Mobile App will simplify the order taking process. Set time goals or neighborhood goals. Interesting fact - Two out of three people will buy when asked, but less than 20% of households are contacted every Fall. 20
