2 Welcome to Auditions for THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW! I hope you are shivering with antici pation. I know I certainly am! The audition process for this show is going to be very relaxed. I need to see you sing, dance and act, of course, but mostly I m looking for attitude and your willingness to be sassy, sexy and silly. You may have heard that this show has a pretty short rehearsal period, which is true. We have five weeks of rehearsal to put Rocky on his feet. However, the show is actually pretty short, plus we will be having 4 hour rehearsals instead of the usual 3, so the impact on your life won t be terrible. I promise, we will have all the time we need to get a freak-tabulous show put together! That said, I will give preference to folks who already know the movie well, and are familiar with the cult aspects of the show, such as audience participation. That doesn t mean I won t consider casting someone who doesn t know the show, only that all other things being equal, knowing the show is better. A bit about our production: My intention is to have the cast onstage for most of the show, leading the audience in the most well-known audience participation lines, manipulating light fixtures, moving scenery and even becoming scenery at times. The band will be onstage on a platform above the playing area, and we will use the playground of fireman s poles, metal grating, fog and crazy lights to tell the story, with all due respect given to the movie while still giving it our own spin. Think of it like a Kiss or Marilyn Manson concert crossed with Pink Floyd s The Wall! THE AUDITION: Please prepare 16 measures of a song in the style of the show. This could be a pop or classic rock tune, something from a rock opera/musical, or even something from the show. Please bring PIANO sheet music for the accompanist in the appropriate key. Following the vocal audition, we will have everyone participate in a dance call. (It will NOT be the Time Warp. I will assume you can handle that one!) Callbacks for readings for specific roles will be on Saturday afternoon.

5 CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS (also seeking two additional party-goers) Dr. Frankenfurter: Male, Baritone. A sweet transvestite from Transsexual Transylvania. The master of the castle, the evil genius who was unlocked the secret to life itself! Must have great legs and be comfortable dancing in high heels. Janet Weiss: Female, Soprano. The girl next door. A wide-eyed innocent with a naughty girl waiting just under the surface. Brad Majors: Male, Baritone. Janet s boyfriend. The All-American good boy who s about to learn a lot about himself. Riff Raff: Male, no age. High Tenor. Frankenfurter s resentful, downtrodden handiman. Creepy and Igor-ish. Magenta: Female, no age. Alto. Frankenfurter s domestic and Riff s sister and lover. Bette Davis meets Bride of Frankenstein. Columbia: Female, 20 s-30 s. High belter. A groupie. In love with Eddie. Tap experience a plus, but not required. Rocky: Male, Tenor-Baritone. Frankenfurter s creation. A beautiful, if slightly dim, Adonis curiously exploring the world around him for the first time. Wears only gold lamé hot pants for much of the show. Must be in excellent physical condition. Eddie: Male, Tenor. A rock n roll bad boy on ice who supplied Rocky s brain. Columbia s true love and Dr. Scott s nephew. Dr. Everett Scott: Male, Baritone/Bass. A wheelchair-bound, former professor of Brad s and nemesis of Frankenfurter s who has come to the castle to search for his nephew, Eddie. Criminologist: Male or Female, Non-singing. A stuffy, pretentious fuddy-duddy who guides the audience through the story.
