This year CAMP MASTERS and your Council are providing you with all the tools you need to have a great popcorn sale in CAMP MASTERS is committed to providing your Scouts, their families and Scouting volunteers with an excellent fundraising program, the best tasting popcorn and the products consumers want. It s proven! We hope you ll use this guidebook as a step-by-step manual to planning, executing and enjoying the rewards of a successful popcorn sale. After all, we know that the most important part of the popcorn sale is what it allows your Scouts to do in their Program! As always, we look forward to hearing from you. 5 Unit Popcorn Kernel Checklist Attend and participate in the Popcorn Sales Training. Use the Fund Your Adventure worksheet to plan your year, make a budget and set goals (download from campmasters.org) Formulate a popcorn sales plan that includes the 3 methods of selling popcorn: Take Order Form, Show and Sell and Online. Create a timeline of when all order forms, popcorn money and Scout prize forms will be due. Be sure to consider the key dates on page 10. Hold a unit kick-off meeting for your Scout Families to inform and motivate them to help with your Unit s sale. Prepare hand-outs for your unit kick-off meeting for both parents and Scouts. Hand-outs include: Family Guide with prize brochure and order form Key Dates Sales Goals for the Unit and for the Scouts A parent job description or list of expectations Promote a Corporate Popcorn Sale with your parents. They can take an order form to work and help boost their son s sales. Complete the Unit Product Order Form and submit online. Keep photocopies of your Scouts take order forms so they can be used the following year. Coordinate your Unit s popcorn pick-up and distribution. Distribute prizes upon receipt in a timely manner. Celebrate your Unit s success and use the money raised to provide an awesome Scouting Program Year for your Scouts to enjoy!

7 Kickoff Planner A great sale starts with a great kickoff! Follow these simple steps to start your popcorn sale with a BANG and motivate Scouts, parents and other volunteers. 1. Plan ahead. Think of an agenda that will be fast-paced and FUN! A good kickoff should be under an hour. 2. Emphasize WHY it is important to sell popcorn. Communicate the exciting Scouting program and how families can cover all their annual expense with one sale. CAMP MASTERS makes it easy to sell delicious popcorn so Scouts can spend more time having fun and less time selling popcorn. 3. Show Scouts the tools available from CAMP MASTERS. This includes their order forms, prize sheets, training videos and much more! Visit to see all the tools available. 4. Spend some time explaining the different ways to sell, key dates for the program and show and sell locations. 5. Motivate Scouts to set goals for their sales and to pick an awesome prize! CAMP MASTERS offers great High Achiever Prizes for top sellers. 6. Finish the evening with a memorable event, like throwing pies in the leaders faces or funny role-playing. A kick off will be exciting when Scouts are involved in the action! 7. Enter the CAMP MASTERS Kick Off Contest!!
8 Forms from the Council Your council has partnered with CAMP MASTERS to offer you the BEST Popcorn Sale Program. Here are a few of the forms coming from your Council to support the sale. Included in your Popcorn Packet is the following: 1. Popcorn Guidebook: All of the information you need including instructions on ordering online. 2. Show & Delivery Unit Order Reconciliation Sheet: This is for your information. It does not need to be turned into the Council unless you are not entering your orders online. 3. Take Order Unit Summary Sheet: This is for your information. It does not need to be turned into the Council unless you are not entering your orders online. 4. Unit Product Sales Record: This is the sheet where you list each of your Scouts and how much they sold. This needs to be turned into the Council at the end of your sale before prizes or extra commission can be approved. It can be mailed, brought into the office, or scanned & ed to Kari at Kari.Judson@scouting.org at the end of the sale. 5. Scout Summary Popcorn Sale Sheet: This does not need to be turned into the Council if you are entering your orders online; however, this is a wonderful tool to help keep the parents and the Unit Kernel on the same page on who ordered what products. 6. Popcorn Product 2-Page Flyer & New Product Information Flyer: This is for your information. It is helpful to have during Show & Sells and when selling door to door. 7. Popcorn Prize Tally Form: This is helpful to have when ordering prizes. 8. Popcorn Helps: This is a helpful tool to have when expressing how important it is to fundraise for your Unit. 9. Popcorn Calendar: This will have all of the order due dates, money due dates and weekly prize drawing dates. 10. Scout Order Forms and Prize Forms

14 Selling Methods Scouts can sell well and safely by following these proven methods and tips. Sell 3 Ways! 1. Sell with your Order Form! Scouts can use this script to help build their confidence and salesmanship! Sir/Ma am, hello my name is, I am a Scout with Pack/Troop here in. We are selling popcorn to raise money for our unit to attend camp. You can help us by trying some of our DELICIOUS popcorn. You will help us won t you? 2. Try Show and Sell! Arrange Show and Sell locations so your Scouts can be seen in front of high visibility storefronts or community gatherings. Be sure to plan in advance and communicate dates/locations! 3. Sell online! It s easier than ever and you can help Scouts sign in at campmasters.org or PopcornOrdering.com. SOCIAL MEDIA SCRIPTS POPCORN SALES TIPS Twitter: Help (name) go to Scout Camp by buying popcorn. If you want to help & eat great popcorn PM me. POPCORN SAFETY TIPS Always sell with an adult or buddy Never enter a stranger s house Keep checks and cash in a separate envelope with your name on it 10 ways to make a popcorn sale. Ask your parents. Ask your relatives. Knock on your neighbor s door. How about your parents friends? Sell at your place of worship. Ask your parents to take an order form to work. Have Super Sale Day with your fellow Scouts. Sell Door-to-Door around your community Popcorn makes great holiday gifts! Visit businesses around your town for a corporate sale. Always walk on the sidewalk whenever possible Never sell at night Wear your uniform Always be courteous!

18 Unit Commissions U use the force and get rewards EARN UP TO 36% COMMISSION 28% base commission 4% is spent on prizes (including weekly drawings, door prizes, and prize program) 2% additional IF: o 2-deep leadership at the Council Kickoff on August 5 th o Unit holds a Unit Kickoff If any Unit needs assistance planning or conducting a Unit Kickoff, please contact a member of your District Team or the Council Office o All orders are placed online & payments are made on time 2% additional IF: o Unit beats the sales goal for the 3-year average (available from the Council Office or your District Popcorn Chair) or has $200/Scout average For first-time selling units, your sales will be based on the number of Scouts in your Unit as of July 31, The basis for this is an average of $200/Scout * If a unit is late turning in their money, they are subject to a 2% fee per week until paid in full and will lose their additional commission. All accounts must be completely closed out by December 31 st.
19 Unit & Scout Incentives Unit Incentive Program Top 3 Units in the Council (1 unit overall and 2 based on per Scout average) o Free Off Season weekend at Camp Rock Enon Scout Incentive Program **Note: Total gross sales from the Take Order, Show & Delivery/Sell, and Online Sales will be combined in determining the SAC Incentive Program with the exception of the weekly drawing** Top Seller in each District o Camping Package : Day Pack with 10 Essentials in it Fill it Up Sheets o The first 75 Scouts to turn in a Fill it Up Sheet TWO (2) Tickets to the Alamo Drafthouse & Cinema in Winchester, VA (only 75 available) o After the first 75 Scouts, a Scout must turn in 2 Fill it Up Sheets to receive the next prize Sell-a-Bration in December: At the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema (the date is still TBA) o Fill it Up Sellers o VIP Treatment for any Scout who sells over $1,000 Weekly Drawings Scouts that complete an entire order form for Popcorn qualify. A completed order form will count as one (1) entry for the weekly prize drawing. Scouts that complete more than one (1) order form may enter additional times for each additional completed order form. Rules for Fill it Up Sheets: 1. Scouts order form(s) must be brought into the Council office, faxed (540) or scanned and ed to Kari Judson at kari.judson@scouting.org by 10am on the Friday of the drawing. 2. Names of the customer(s) MUST be entered on each line for the Fill it Up Form to be considered 3. Order forms must have the following listed on the front: a. Scout s name b. Scout s phone number c. Scout s address (if applicable) d. Scout s Program (Pack, Troop or Crew) and Unit Number **If the Scout s order form is turned in without the above regulations, it WILL NOT be entered into the drawing, so please communicate this information to the parents**
20 SAC Photo Contest This year, the Shenandoah Area Council will be hosting a Photo Contest for all the Scouts & Units who are selling Popcorn!! This is another opportunity for your Scout to earn more great stuff! The Way it Works Parents submit a photo of their child to Kari Judson throughout the sale at Kari.Judson@scouting.org o Any popcorn theme photo will be accepted Piggyback off of Camp Master s contest The weekly winner will be used as the SAC Popcorn Facebook Group s cover photo At the end of the sale, we will take a pole on the favorite picture. The Overall Winner receives: o A FREE weekend at a SAC sponsored Camp (Fun with Son, Family Camp, a Camporee, etc) o Or A FREE week at Camp Rock Enon during Summer Camp The winning photo will be used in next year s popcorn promotions. So get out there and start snapping away! During a Show & Sell During Show & Delivery In uniform thanking a customer Dressed in costume selling popcorn Eating popcorn Receiving their awards for selling popcorn.
