Apr. 19 th 2018 Sandra Simmonds A Day in Iran as a Housewife This is the second talk that she regularly gives to U3A Groups. Her first talk was excellent and many members requested this second talk. May 17 th 2018 Amalia Michaels The Royal Society & the Royal Institution To be elected a Fellow of the Royal Society is possibly one of the greatest honours that can be bestowed upon a scientist and discoveries made at the Royal Institution have been life-changing for our modern civilisation. June 21 st 2018

3 15 March 2018 Monthly Meeting Talk. You will be aware that the talk will be given by John Bercow, Speaker of the House of Commons. We anticipate a large audience and so this will be a ticket-only event. Some tickets are still available, priced at 1.00, for purchase at the 18 January MM in Hartley Hall. PLEASE BRING 1 COINS AS WE WILL NOT BE GIVING CHANGE!!! The meeting will take place in the hall at the Mill Hill United Synagogue. ADMISSION IS BY TICKET ONLY

6 Barnet U3A has a few vacancies in their ballroom dancing course which will commence on Tuesday 13 March 2018 at Ewen Hall Wood Street Barnet. The cost of 12 lessons is 40 per person and the lessons take place between 2/4pm on consecutive Tuesdays. If you are interested please contact Andrea Sinclair at: andrea_sinclair@btopenworld.com

Home of the ENIGMA CODE & Much More The first operational break into Enigma came around the 23 January 1940, when a team of mathematicians consisting of John Jeffreys, Peter Twinn and Alan Turing, unravelled the German Army administrative key, thus saving thousands of lives. The film, The Imitation Game, depicted Benedict Cumberbatch as Alan Turing helping to crack the Enigma Code. It all happened for real, here at Bletchley Park. He, or nowadays, she, will tell us about the site s history and heritage whilst we are being shown around this wonderful building.
