50 Appendix B Visual Schedule My Schedule for the Ordway trip to Panda s Home My Steps Done Take transportation to the Ordway. Walk through the Festival outside and inside Ordway. Wait in the lobby until the show is about to begin. Ride the elevator or take the stairs to the 2nd floor. Stand in line until the theater usher tells us to enter the Drake Room to watch the show. Sit in my seat where the theater usher directs me. Watch the show Panda s Home.

52 Appendix C Accommodations At the 2018 Flint Hills Family Festival presented by the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts, a sensory friendly performance of Panda s Home will include the following accommodations: Lights remain on at a low level in the theater during the performance; Lower sound level, especially for startling or loud sounds keep consistent; Warning to the audience, sudden loud sounds or startling moments will be signaled in advance; A reduction of lighting focused on the audience; Audience is free to talk and leave their seats during the performance; Designated quiet areas within the theater; filled with an assortment manipulatives and comfort objects - stress balls, squeeze toys, beanbag chairs, pillows, blankets, and floor puzzles. Space throughout the theater for standing and movement; Limited crowds and visitors at the Ordway during the day and timing of the performance; Easy access to make quick exit; Seat cushions; Ear plugs/noise canceling head phones; Staff trained to be inviting and accommodating to guest s needs; and Access to resource materials to prepare for their visit (listed on next page). Audience members are welcome to bring their own manipulatives, seat cushions, comfort objects, and extra support items to the performance.

53 Appendix D Additional Information SUMMARY OF PANDA S HOME Compagnia T.P.O. in co-production with China s TONG Production and Teatro Metastasio Di Prato present Panda s Home. The performance follows a panda through his home : a forest as large as all of China. In this imaginary journey we will explore some of China s stories, traditions, and culture, and will encounter bamboo forests, monsters, fireworks, and kites. Through these encounters, we will learn how the elements of nature exist in relationship to one another. In the theory of the Five Elements (Wu Xing), each element is transformed and creates the next one: wood fire earth metal water. The Five Elements that appear will be followed by the two dancers along with students invited to the stage. HOW IS THIS CHINESE FOREST BROUGHT INSIDE? From 2002 to 2007, Compagnia T.P.O. developed a unique production element called the CCC concept (Children s Cheering Carpet), a magic carpet that allows children to move, touch, and interact with the set and its surroundings. In addition to the CCC, there will also be several circular and rectangular pieces of fabric hanging perpendicular to the carpet. The fabric and carpet become the screens to which all visual magic appears. On stage, the images and sounds envelop the students in colorful and interactive settings as games are played in a group with the dancers.
