We are calling all singing groups who live in the Western Cape. 4 COMPETITION TERMS AND CONDITIONS The CALLING ALL VOICES COMPETITION ("Competition") is run by Calling Me Home Pty (Ltd) and The Africa Voices Trust ("Promoter"), in conjunction with Shy Music Pty (Ltd) and is open to all small choir or ensemble ( Artist/Group ) singing groups consisting of a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 18 singers. Contestants must reside in the Western Cape and be between the ages of 16 and 35 years and have South African residency. Please note that by participating in this competition the artists agree to be bound by the rules, terms and conditions of the Competition. They warrant that they are not prevented in any way from entering into or participating in this Competition. CALLING ALL VOICES Competition Timeline Competition launches 1 June Entries close Finalists announced 27 July 3 August Workshop Dress rehearsal 11 August 25 August in the afternoon Gala event 25 August The Gala event will take place on the 25th of August from 19:00 22:00, venue to be confirmed The gala event will serve as the final audition for the competition. It will be setup like an audition and finalists will be expected to perform the songs of their choice, accompanied by our pianist, or a pianist of their choice in front of a panel of judges and an audience. Each group must perform a song of their personal choice at the gala. Please note that no late entries will be accepted. The prizes which will be provided by the Promoter include (but are not limited to): One workshop aimed at introducing participants to the entertainment industry in South Africa; A chance to perform live on stage at the Gala Concert; The winning group will get a chance to record their own performance song in studio with a professional producer. All finalist choirs/vocal group members will receive a free ticket to attend the Calling Us Home musical during the October 2018 run. 5 Please note that the prizes do not include accommodation, meals and transport and are not transferable, cannot be deferred or exchanged or redeemed for cash and are not negotiable. The Promoter reserves the right to reject any entries deemed unacceptable under these terms or any other terms. Entries submitted become the property of The Promoter. Adjudication A panel of judges will narrow down the entries to 3 finalists. Finalists will be selected from all entries received within the Competition period. Finalists will be notified by telephone and and announced on our Facebook page at the latest by 1600h on 3 August The judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Should the Promoter not be able to contact a finalist, parent or guardian, the Promoter has the right to replace that finalist. By entering the Competition, participating artists agree that the Promoter may publish the names, make media announcements and use photographs of the finalists and winners (all associated copy-right shall belong to the Promoter). Please note that under the provisions of the Consumer Protection Act, with regards to point 6 above, a participant may decline the invitation to become a finalist and to continue with the Competition, specifically with respect to the use of their image in marketing material, their participation in any marketing activity proposed and their attendance at the live event when the winners are announced. Should any participant decline the invitation and refuse the publicity and marketing requirement, the Promoter reserves the right to award the position of finalist to any other participant in the Competition, which award shall become final. Finalists must advise the Promoter of a decision not to continue with the Competition within 24 hours after being notified of their having been selected as a finalist. The finalists will be invited to participate in one workshop. The workshop will take place on 11 August 2018 and it is highly recommended that they attend. The finalists will perform before a panel of judges at the Gala Event on 25 August 2018, at which 1 winning group will be announced. All finalists must be able and willing to perform live at the Gala Event, or they will be disqualified and/or replaced. 6 platforms as well as social media platforms and participants confirm that such publicity exposure has been agreed to by either themselves or if still a minor, by their parent or guardian. The Promoter reserves the right to carry out audits in respect of any winner/s to verify their eligibility. The Promoter reserves the right to cancel the Competition at any time, if deemed necessary in its opinion or if circumstances arise that are outside of its control, and will not be liable to entrants in such event for any cause or action whatsoever. The announcement of a winner does not constitute a ruling by The Promoter that the winner has complied with the rules. The Promoter may disqualify an entrant after the announcement, should any rule transgressions be discovered. All Participants and winners indemnify the Promoter, the associated companies (directors, officers and employees) and agents, against any claims for loss or damages, whether direct, indirect, consequential or otherwise, arising from any cause whatsoever connected to or arising out of their participation in any way in this Competition. All the results of the Competition shall be verified by independent auditors and the judges decision shall be final. No correspondence or discussion shall be entered into with any participant. 7 TO ENTER Each participating group must send through a video version of themselves singing: Any song not longer than 5 minutes of their own choice Entries can be submitted in the following musical formats: A Capella Accompanied by a piano, keyboard or guitar Sung against a backing track (vocals should be clearly audible) Videos can be made on mobile phone devices. Format is entirely at the participant s discretion. Please note that backing tracks will not be provided by the Promoter. Entries need to be sent to info@shymusic.co.za, accompanied by an entry form. Entry forms are available on the callingushomemusical.com website and on our Facebook page. Participants under the age of eighteen must have a parent or guardian signature and their contact details filled in on the entry form. Entries must reach us before or on 27 July 2018, at 17:00. Please note that late entries will not be accepted.
