3 DIR ECTOR S STATEM E N T Lorne began as a simple idea about a man alone in the bush smoking his last ciggerette that basically wanted to die an honourable and worth while death. This meant a lot to me, the whole idea of death and what it means. I had my story but the challenge was to find a writer with the same vision as me. By chance or fate I bumped into Taylor Adams (Writer of Lorne) and the script subsequently transformed into a beautiful work of art, which has become very important to us. What started off as a short monologue piece about a lonely bushman admiring his cigarette, swiftly evolved into a story of loneliness, and the struggle with oneself. We knew that we wanted Guy Pearce to play Lorne, so I sent off a hopeful and by a twist of fate Guy said he was interested. Guy didn t just play Lorne, he became the character. I remember long phone calls discussing the smallest of details in the script, lines and movements of blocking leading up to shoot. I truly admired and respected the dedication he put into this role. After workshopping the script with Guy we discovered a deeper meaning to who Lorne is and what he represents. I based a lot of Lorne s thoughts on things I question myself. When we are alone, how do we die? who remembers it? Because in the end, death is just a stage of life. I couldn t of made this film what it is without Guy Pearce and the team that our producer brought on board. - It s mind blowing that I ve been able to work with Guy as his film Momento was the film that inspired me to direct JESSE LEAMAN

4 B IO S JESSE LEAMAN DIRECTOR is an independent film director from Geelong, Victoria. Jesse has been professionally directing since 2012, and has aspired to move onto bigger and better things. Lorne starring Guy Pearce is the start to the journey. Jesse plans to Direct and produce many more projects among the team at Leaman Films. Jesse also co-directed and co-wrote with fellow writer, Taylor Adams, to create their first project, Exscriptus, for the 48filmproject, which made official selection and was shown at the Directors Guild of America in early Jesse is dedicate to telling raw stories that bring viewers to question their ways of living and thinking. Simplicity is key for this film, and it was definitely the most exciting moment of my life JESSE LEAMAN LUKE SALIBA PRODUCER Luke Saliba is an Actor and producer he started working professionally in the film industry from a very young age. He has worked both as and actor and producer on a number of television series and films.luke continues to work with a number of directors regularly and closely and feels strongly about building families among creatives in the industry. Lorne is the first of many projects to be produced with director, both Leaman films and Luke Saliba currently have three short films and a feature in Pre-production. Luke recently produced Charlie which was accepted to open the Portland Film Festival in the US.

5 B IO S TAYLOR ADAMS WRITER Taylor Adams is a freelance writer from Geelong, Victoria. Taylor has been in love with story telling from a very young age, and has dedicated himself to creating stories that not only make the reader think, but also change their perspective on the topics he writes about. Taylor has been working with since 2014, releasing their first short film Exscriptus, which made official selection. The duo s first script Lorne, has been the first high budget project made by Leaman Films, with other short films well on the way. Currently, Taylor is involved in future projects with Leaman Films while working on his first feature length film, Long Exposure, based off his short story, written in MICHAEL WYLAM CINEMATOGRAPHER Michael is a British born cinematographer working in Australia. He has worked on TVC s, feature films and TV series in Australia and overseas. His most recent work premiered at SXSW film festival this year. Michael is currently in pre-production for a feature film later this year and continues to work on TVC s. Here, Jo has quickly developed a body of work with local directors such as Garth Davis, Patrick Hughes, and Justin Kurzel. She continues to fashion, shape and craft stories of all kinds with huge passion and tenacity. Jo is currently working on a intriguing Australian feature film as one of five editors, none of whom are aware of each other s section of the film, due for release early She is also in development of her own feature film documentary project about the future of eduction. JOHN KASSAB SOUND DESIGNER John Kassab is an Australian multi-award winning producer and sound designer currently based in the United States. John contributed sound designs to such projects as Deeper Than Yesterday, winner of 3 prizes at Cannes and the Sundance International Grand Jury Prize, and the Academy Award-Winning The Lost Thing. In 2010, John was awarded a Winston Churchill Fellowship to travel to the UK, NY, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Wellington, New Zealand to research international sound design. His influential paper The State of Post-Production Film Sound was widely cited and lead to a lecture tour and consultancy for postproduction studios and sound software developers world wide. JOHANNA SCOTT EDITOR With a love for film, Jo began her career in editing in the heart of London s thriving film scene working at the Film Editors and Cut & Run, London. There, she worked tirelessly as an editor across a range of formats, from commercials to films, music videos and documentaries. Ever passionate and dedicated, her hard work was soon recognised with successive award nominations, including a prestigious Bafta for her work on the film, Heavy Metal Drummer. After ten years worth of curries on brick lane - Jo packed it in for love and moved to Melbourne. John has produced a number of award winning short films including The End (2012) and The Full Circle (2012). His first feature film production was the documentary film 12 O Clock Boys (2013), which premiered at SXSW to considerable critical acclaim. John s second feature production, Like Lambs, a political thriller staring Liam Aiken which was filmed on 35mm, is due to premiere in 2016.
