2 1. Eligibility 1.1. Individual Performances The Kelley s Got Talent show is open to all currently admitted and enrolled business students (undergraduate, MBA, or LLC resident, etc.) as of the Spring Semester Students who are declared intended business majors will be eligible to participate even though they have not been admitted to the Kelley School of Business Group Performances Groups who desire to participate must have at least 50% of currently enrolled business/business intended student as of Spring Semester Groups may have a maximum number of 6 members All group members must submit an application by 5PM February 26, All group members must be currently enrolled Indiana University students Performances Sponsored by Kelley Student Organizations Individuals or groups not meeting eligibility criteria in sections 1.1 or 1.2 may participate if at least one performer is a member of a registered Kelley Student Organization and that organization sponsors the entry Kelley Student Organizations may sponsor only one entry Any prize funds awarded to Kelley Student Organization-sponsored entries will be disbursed to the individual performers, not to the student organization. Kelley s Got Talent is a competition between students, not between student organizations Past Participants Previous Kelley s Got Talent contestants are eligible to participate again, with the following exception: Previous Kelley s Got Talent winners (First, Second, or Third place) are not eligible to participate. 2. Format and Rules 2.1. Auditions Audition Dates auditions will be held on the following dates; Sat. March 5, :30 am 4:00 pm (or as needed) Briscoe (Room TBA) The Audition Process will be used to select 8 finalists who will be the participants in Round 1 of the final performance Consistent with the final performance format, the performance length of the audition is limited to 3 minutes. Audition judges may, at their discretion, deduct points for performances exceeding the time limit Auditions are not open to the general public Only students participating in the scheduled audition round will be allowed to compete in the final performance Acts who qualify as finalists for the show are required to attend a video shoot scheduled for Sunday, March 6 (Time & Location TBA) 2.2. Final Performance Thursday, April 7, 2016 Willkie Auditorium

3 Total Show Time Duration - the talent show duration will be no longer than 120 minutes from start to finish and will consist of four parts: 1) Introduction 10 minutes 2) Round 1 Initial Performances 56 minutes 3) Round 2 Final Performances 33 minutes 4) Conclusion and Award Announcements 10 minutes Description of Rounds - there will be two performance rounds with different components. Each participant in the final event will be required to prepare and be ready to perform two separate acts. In addition, it is the responsibility of each performer to ensure that the stage is left clean and clear of obstacles after their performance has concluded. Performers may be able to coordinate use of shared equipment Round 1 this is the opportunity for each participant to showcase their talents in front of the judges. Each act will have a strictly limited 7 minute time slot in which to conduct their performance and a 3 minute maximum on the actual talent performance itself. A breakdown of time in minutes is as follows: 2 minutes setup 3 minutes performing 2 minutes teardown Ten points will be deducted from the Round 1 final score for contestants exceeding the allowed performance time by 5 59 seconds. Twenty points will be deducted for exceeding the allowed performance time by one minute or more Round 2 this is the opportunity for each of the three participants who advance out of Round 1 to showcase their talents in front of the judges for a second time. Each act will have a strictly limited 11 minute time slot in which to do their performance, with a 3 minute maximum on the actual talent performance itself. There will also be a mandatory question and answer session incorporated into this round that was not present in Round 1. A breakdown of time in minutes is as follows: 2 minutes setup 3 minutes performing 4 minutes Q&A 2 minutes teardown Ten points will be deducted from the Round 2 final score for contestants exceeding the allowed performance time by more than 5 seconds Types of Acts Permitted Musical Performance Poetry or Dramatic Reading Dance Comedy Physical Skill (i.e. juggling, choreographed equipment routine) 2.4. Expenses

4 Any expenses incurred in conjunction with brainstorming, setup, practice, rehearsal, transportation, and ultimately the performance of the showcased talent, both before or after the show, are the sole responsibility of the contestant. The Kelley School will not reimburse participants for their costs to create or execute a performance Content (Behavioral) Governance the following guidelines are in place governing student conduct during auditions and performances: Participant behavior and talent content must be appropriate for a general audience of students, faculty, donors, alumni, and community members The event will reflect a culture of respect, in which participants are expected to exhibit personal and social responsibility, professionalism, and ethical decision making at all times during the performances and auditions Performances may not make mention of other performances or individual performers before or after their performance has concluded, regardless of whether they are intended in a positive or negative light In addition, performers must adhere to the following: Indiana University Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities, and Conduct - Kelley School of Business Undergraduate Program Honor Code Behavioral Adherence Statement before being permitted to audition, each intended performer must sign a behavioral adherence statement which is found on the audition application and governs both the audition and final performance (should they be selected). No contestant will be permitted to audition without submitting this document Consequences for violation violation of the above codes, outlined behaviors, or behavioral adherence statement in any way will result in immediate disqualification from the talent show and the removal of participation privileges for that contestant in subsequent talent shows No fire, smoke (including smoke and fog machines), or weapons will be allowed on stage at any time The Willkie Auditorium has a piano and a sound system capable of utilizing up to 3 wireless microphones. One microphone may be reserved exclusively for the emcee. Stage lighting will not be able to be changed from act to act. 3. Judging and Tabulation of Scores 3.1. Number of judges and how they re selected 5 judges have been selected and approved by the Kelley s Got Talent steering committee (headed by Jim Johnson). They will be present at the final performance (both rounds 1 and 2).

5 3.2. Judging Rubrics judges will base their evaluation on the following categories: ROUND 1 Quality of Act Showmanship Content Creativity/Interpretation ROUND 2 Quality of Act Showmanship Content Q&A 3.3. Scoring methodology the total performance score will be out of 100 possible points from each judge. Each category in 3.2 (above) will have a maximum possible score of 25 points Score re-setting the points earned by each participant during the rounds of the talent show are not cumulative. Thus, once the participants for round 2 have been selected, all participants begin again with a score of zero Time set aside for judging judging will be done after each individual performance. Judges will be required to wait until the performance concludes before any numerical scores can be given to the tabulator. Judges will be required to make their decision about a final score and ensure that it is in the tabulator s hands during the 4 minutes of teardown/setup set aside between performances Score tabulation scores will be collected from the judges after each performance by the score tabulator, who will input the scores from the judges into an excel spreadsheet that keep a real time score for all of the acts Score announcement during both the first and final rounds of the competition, scores will be withheld until the last performance has occurred After the first round of performances have concluded, the top three acts will be announced by name, not score, in no particular order. These three acts will be the ones that move forward to the finals After the final round of performances has concluded, the top three acts will be announced by name and score in reverse order of best performance Tie Situations in the event that the aggregate amount of points for two candidates is the same, the Quality of Act category will be consulted to determine the winner. The contestant with the highest cumulative mark across all judges in this category will be deemed the winner. In the event that this total still results in a tie, the same procedure will be followed with the Showmanship, Content, and Creativity/Interpretation (Round 1) or Q&A (Round 2) categories, respectively Audience participation technology may be utilized to select an Audience Favorite performance, unrelated to the judged results.

Winners will also be eligible to receive trophies and have their names engraved on a plaque.
