2 DANIELS SPECTRUM Aki Studio Theatre is located on the main floor of Daniels Spectrum Hours of Operation: Monday through Friday - 8 AM to 9 PM Saturday and Sunday - 10 AM to 6 PM Parking: There is parking underneath the Paintbox condominiums at 225 Sackville Street, just to the west side of Daniels Spectrum. Please note there is indoor access to this parking lot from Daniels Spectrum. Weekday and Weekend (6 AM to 6 PM) - $5.00 Evenings (6 PM to 6 AM) - $5.00 Loading Area: There is a loading area on the south side of Daniels Spectrum. There is no dock or formal truck parking. The door dimensions of the loading area are 6 7 wide by 6 9 tall. Smoking: There is no smoking within 25 metres of the building. 3 AKI STUDIO THEATRE The Aki Studio Theatre is managed by Native Earth Performing Arts. Values: Both the Aki Studio Theatre and Native Earth Performing Arts operate according to 7 traditional principles, and we ask that all peoples working in the Aki Studio Theatre do the same. They are: Patience, Humility, Wisdom, Strength of Character, Tolerance, Courage and Generosity. General: The Aki Studio is a black box theatre. In its standard arrangement, the Aki Studio is set up as a proscenium stage. In the house configuration the staging area is 21 deep by 30 wide. The entire stage floor is built as a semi sprung floor. The grid stands at 13 3 high at its lowest point. The Aki has a crossover hallway backstage that houses two dressing rooms and a wheelchair accessible bathroom. Accessibility: Daniels Spectrum and the Aki Studio Theatre are fully accessible. The Aki Studio Theatre is equipped to provide hearing assist to patrons. In addition, The Aki Studio is excited to now provide various accessibility packages. A surtitle package or ASL interpreters are available for all performances. Please ask for more information if you are interested in participating in a fully accessible performance. It is strongly encouraged that floor-level seating is included in the design to maintain accessibility for patrons. Seating Capacity: In the house configuration the house sits 118. The seating area is fully accessible, and has a footprint 21 deep by 36 wide. The rake of the risers goes up by 1 increments, and can be set adjusted to 8 or 16 increments. Pg 3 of 6

4 Loading Area: There are two loading doors exiting the Aki Studio Theatre crossover to the south side of Dundas Street, at street level. The loading door dimensions are 6 7 wide by 6 9 tall. There is a planter and curb blocking direct access to a truck. However, smaller trucks can pull up on to the curb to park. In addition, the area is a no stop zone between 4 PM and 7 PM on weekdays. Internet/Phone: There is public wireless in the theatre and there is Ethernet available in the box office, theatre and dressing rooms. Plug into the white plated blue plugs labeled D#. Please note this connects to the office internet and network. We ask that you be respectful of a possible high load of traffic and to not use this to stream or download recreational materials. Temperature: There is a thermostat located on the East wall of Aki and in the backstage crossover. You can adjust up and down two degrees on this thermostat. If that proves to be inadequate please check with the theatre technician who will then contact Artscape Superintendent to change the temperature in the Aki Studio. Laundry: There is a washer and dryer unit located in the crossover of the Aki Studio Theatre that is available for performance rentals. Garbage & Recycling: Please collect your garbage and recycling separately while in the Aki Studio Theatre. Once it requires disposal, call up to the Native Earth office to get the key to the garbage room and someone will show you the way! After Hours Maintenance: Check first in the Artscape office on the second floor to see if there are staff present. In case of emergency (flood, etc) please call Tiger Tel at If the maintenance issue is not an emergency please wait until the Superintendents have returned to their offices. Pg 4 of 6
