I recognize that I must deliver my COMPLETED house with my name labeled underneath the base of my entry, to The Myrtle Beach Convention Center on MONDAY, NOVEMBER 10 TH between the hours of 12pm 7pm or on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 11 TH between the hours of 8am 12pm. Judging will take place on the evening of November 11 th. I also understand that houses will be displayed in the Dickens Christmas Show and Festivals, winning houses from each category will be displayed in local public places (to be determined), throughout the holiday season ending on January 2, (Entrants whose houses that are not chosen to be displayed will be contacted for pick up on November 12 th between 6pm 9pm. Unclaimed entries will be discarded). I hereby grant permission to the Dickens Christmas Show and Festivals and/or AAF to print or duplicate the picture of my entry for either internal or external release. This includes print, online publications and television. Permission is also granted to the Dickens Christmas Show and Festivals and/or AAF to transport my entry for publicity purposes. The Dickens Christmas Show and Festivals and/or AAF does not guarantee the safety or security of my entry and cannot be held responsible for any damages incurred. Display your creativity for thousands of holiday shoppers from all over the United States and Canada during this 4-day shopping extravaganza! The mighty pen of Charles Dickens forms the Show s lively backdrop with an excursion into Christmas Past. Bedecked with London Row houses, strolling minstrels, Christmastime finery and unique treasures, this festival produces a complete and entertaining 19 th century holiday shopping environment - enjoyed by young and old alike. In keeping with the spirit of Charles Dickens renowned book, A Christmas Carol, the 2 nd Annual Victorian Gingerbread House Competition serves as a fundraising event for the Autism Advocate Foundation (AAF) - who receives 100% of all proceeds donated. AAF is a non-profit organization formed in 2004, by parents of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) living in Horry County, South Carolina - providing emotional, financial and therapeutic support for individuals with ASD throughout their lifespan. This competition includes three different categories: Individual, Group and Professional. Cash Prizes will be awarded to the 1 st place winner in all categories. All WINNING entries will be on display during the Dickens Christmas Show and Festivals from November 13 th 16 th, These entries will then be moved for public display throughout the holiday season until January 3 rd, By displaying your personal, business, school or organization name next to your creation you gain extra exposure to the 20,000+ shoppers that annually attend. But, the publicity

4 doesn t stop there! Winners of each category will be featured in an ad run in The Herald on Friday, November 14 th. YOU can make a DIFFERENCE! All entries are required to submit structures with Victorian or Holiday Themed Architecture of 100% edible material. Structures can be inspired by but are not limited to buildings from Dickens A Christmas Carol. Structures do not have to be completed with four sides. They can be cut-away versions of Victorian buildings. All visible parts must be completely decorated. Entries can also be of a multitude of buildings as long as the overall layout does not exceed the maximum size requirement dictated by the entrants category. Houses should not exceed a maximum of 2 ft. in height. (Houses smaller than the maximum height are also acceptable but must be displayed on the 2 ft. x 2 ft. cardboard). Professional category size must be presented on baseboard of at least _-inch thick wood, and must not exceed a 3 ft. x 3 ft.

5 INGREDIENTS: All entries must be made completely of gingerbread and other edible materials (not limited to just sweets). Candies or food items must be unwrapped. No artificial materials are allowed. This includes, but is not limited to plastic, styrofoam, and/or wood (with the exception of the baseboard). No toothpicks, sticks, etc. All parts of the structure both inside and out must be 100% edible. COMPETITION GUIDELINES: Judging will take place on Wednesday, November 12, All categories will be judged by an independent panel of judges with backgrounds in art, food, display, and celebrity status. All judges rulings will be final. Structures will be judged on the following criteria: Adherence to A Victorian OR Holiday Theme Creativity Level of Precision/Skill Overall Display SUPERVISION: Supervision is permitted in the Child and Youth categories only. However, the entrant must do all baking, creation, construction, and decoration. Adult and Professional categories require that the entrant have no outside supervision or help. ELIGIBILITIES: The competition is open to all persons with the exception of employees of Leisure Time Unlimited Inc. (producers of Dickens Christmas Show and Festivals) and AAF. DELIVERY & RETURN OF STRUCTURES: All entries must have the competitor s name and phone number on the underside of the cardboard/baseboard. All houses must be delivered to: The Myrtle Beach Convention Center 2101 North Oak Street Myrtle Beach, South Carolina The houses must be delivered on one of the two following dates and between the specified times: Monday November 10 th, 2008 Noon - 7:00pm Tuesday November 11 th, :00am - Noon (Check-in will be held in Building C of the Exhibit Hall) Winning houses may be retrieved between January 2 nd and 3 rd, 2009 at a location to be determined.
