How long is your piece? What do you need? Examples: Access to electrical outlet, extension cords, a table, a chair, a cube, a garment rack to hang a cloth for a screen.etc. Think of everything you need in the space to perform your piece, and list them below.(note: We will try to provide items you request but you may need to source some items yourself. We will give you plenty of advance notice if we cannot provide items.) What are your Sound/Video needs?: Examples: hook into House sound system, a microphone, etc. Please list sound and video needs below. (NOTE: We request that you send us digital MP3s and video files well in advance to load in Quelab.).

Note: Examine the La MaMa Floor Plan for answers to questions about theatre dimensions, sightlines, and grid placement. BE PREPARED TO PROVIDE THE DIMENSIONS OF ALL OF YOUR SET PIECES AND PUPPETS SO THAT BACKSTAGE STORAGE CAN BE PLANNED PREPARE A SELECTION OF PHOTOS THAT DOCUMENT YOUR WORK AS AN ARTIST OR COMPANY, WITH PHOTO CAPTIONS AND CREDIT. IF SELECTED YOU WILL BE ASKED TO SEND THEM IMMEDIATELY. IF THIS IS A NEW PIECE NEVER BEFORE PERFORMED! SEND A DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PIECE. PLEASE ARRANGE CONTACT WITH JANE CATHERINE SHAW TO DISCUSS YOUR PROJECT IMMEDIDATELY.. SEND A LINK TO VIDEO OF PREVIOUSLY PRODUCED WORK-IF YOU HAVE PREVIOUSLY PRODUCED WORK. A clearly written script will help the stage manager to write and call cues for your piece with a minimum of rehearsals. Don t skimp on this; a good script is a valuable tool! Remember, Sound and Light cues are going to be minimal so that they can be done well rather than too many, done poorly. PLEASE ATTACH AS A WORD DOCX: Name and bios of Creators, collaborators, performers, designers, builders for your piece. FYI: Each piece selected will receive a $75.00 fee after the slam performance. All performers should plan to participate as crew for each other during the performance. Artists will be notified about their 2018 Slam status by September 30, Until then please keep your schedule flexible for Nov 4 and 5, Evening appointments will only be possible Nov 4. Daytime tech appointments will be scheduled for Nov 5 prior to the show that evening. Please make your cast aware of this in advance. There are limited spaces available in the La MaMa dorms for out of town artists. Please notify Jane Catherine Shaw when you submit your application if you will be coming from out of town. Unfortunately, space is limited in the dorm, so be prepared to source accommodations from friends! Comps are not provided for performances, and the Slam sells out very quickly. Tell your VIPs to get their tickets right away to be sure to have seats for the show. Feel free to submit any additional information you think we should have about you or your piece. Ever since Ellen Stewart founded La MaMa in 1961, our interest has been in the people who make art, and it is to them that we give our support with free theater and rehearsal space, lights, sound, props, platforms, and whatever else we have that they can use to create their work. We want them to feel free to explore their ideas, and translate them into a theatrical language that can communicate to any person in any part of the world. La MaMa is the place where emerging artists learn from established artists and where artists from around the globe share work and ideas. To date, La MaMa has presented artists from over 70 nations. Each season, over 100 productions with over 400 performances are staged in our three theaters. Audiences from all backgrounds attend our shows.
