3 DIRECTOR S VISION Chris Cuming, Director & Choreographer JM Barrie s world famous story about the boy who never grew up has been capturing the hearts of thousands of young people for decades. When it was first performed in front of a theatre of children from the Great Ormond Street Hospital and they were asked Do you believe in fairies?, the audience, both young and old alike, engaged with the story and theatrical magic was born. I am eager to re-create that magic with a truthful, heartfelt charismatic musical. Stiles and Drewe s Peter Pan: A Musical Adventure is a wonderful score that takes us on the adventure to Neverland with pathos and joy, giving us some great melodies and thematic styles that are not only thrilling to sing but also truly convey the story. As you can see, I am passionate about storytelling and, together with my associate, we have created a work in which, through a group of performers acting, singing and dancing, this narrative can be related in an engaging and exciting way. I am very excited to be working with CTC on another great show and to be given the freedom to play with and develop this piece of theatre. This will be an intense process where we will be creating and work shopping during rehearsals, working collaboratively as an ensemble of actors to bring the story to life. CTC s James and the Giant Peach I look forward to seeing you all at the auditions. Be prepared to play around with the material and to try something different. Do not be influenced by the DVD or other productions of the show, but be bold and original, making strong choices about your characterisation. CAMBRIDGE THEATRE COMPANY Louis Ling founded CTC in the Summer of 2015 and produced The Addams Family, Monty Python s Spamalot in 2016 at the ADC, and with Goodnight Mister Tom in the same year at our new home, Great Hall at The Leys. In 2017, Louis programmed the season with Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Les Misérables School Edition, and James and the Giant Peach. CTC is now working on producing it s biggest season this year with shows such as Sweet Charity, Dead Man s Cell Phone, West Side Story, and Stiles and Drewe s Peter Pan. CTC s Goodnight Mister Tom 3

4 AUDITIONS AUDITION DATES Saturday 12 May Boys am & 10.30am-12pm AUDITION VENUE Audition venue to be announced in due course. FORMAT OF THE AUDITIONS The auditions will start with an introduction by the team. This will be followed by a dance workshop led by Chris Cuming. This will last no more than 30 minutes. After that, in timed audition slots, there will be individual singing auditions for the Ensemble and for Principals. Please wear comfortable clothing for the audition. If you have any questions regarding the level of movement before the audition please contact, Chris Cuming, at auditions@camtheatrecompany.co.uk A full rehearsal schedule will be sent out about 6 weeks before the first rehearsal. It s important to give us any dates for which you will be unavailable. Please indicate these on the audition form, which you ll hand in at your audition. Please note there are 8 performances in total. CHILD PRODUCTION FEE In Cambridge many groups charge a production fee to assist with costs for the production. This will be 140 for Peter Pan. 7 PETER PAN CHARACTER BREAKDOWN Please note that the ages listed just serve as a guide. All roles are available, and casting is open. Newcomers to Cambridge Theatre Company are welcome and encouraged. CHILDREN (BOYS): MICHAEL DARLING Male, Stage Age 7-9 The youngest Darling child. He is a sweet, bubbly, and likeable boy who is full of fun and adventure. Must be a good mover and be comfortable flying. JOHN DARLING Male, Stage Age John is the loyal, bookish middle child of the Darling family. He has always dreamed of being in a big adventure. Must be a good mover and be comfortable flying. The roles of Michael and John Darling will be shared by 2 boys whom will alternate the performances. LOST BOYS Male, Stage Age The adventurous gang of misfit boys who have been abandoned by or have run away from their mothers. They live with Peter in Neverland and originally share his desire to never grow up. They are a group of distinct and unique personalities, including Tootles (the sweet one), Slightly Soiled (the conceited one), and Nibs (the cheerful one). These strong personalities demand strong actors who are able to move and have stage presence and energy. All Lost Boys are male. We are not casting any girls under the aged of 16 in this production. 7
