Why is it important to us, the general public? How do writers and actors express themselves through fictional characters and stories? This beginner s course introduces students to the basics of drama, performance and acting based on various methodologies using acting exercises, character development, scene studies, analysis of films about performance and group discussions. PREREQUISITE None COURSE REQUIREMENTS Prior reading Students will be graded on 1) the quality of class participation (this will include class discussion, peer feedback and attendance); 2) satisfactory completion of assignments; and 3) the quality of required in-class acting performances. GRADING POLICY Class Participation / Attendance 40 % In-class acting assignments 20 % Out of class-assignments 20 % Final project 20% Grade point averages are computed on a scale where A= 4.0 (93-100), A- = 3.7 (90-92), B+ = 3.3 (87-89), B = 3.0 (83-86), B- = 2.7 (80-82), C+ = 2.3 (77-79), C = 2.0 (73-76), C- = 1.7 (70-72), D = 1.0 (60-69), F = 0 (failing).
