3 Commitment Agreement Please place a check next to each statement you agree upon to verify your commitment if you are to be cast in this production. I am available to rehearse Monday-Friday nights from 6:00-9:00 p.m. including possible weekends closer to opening. Leads can expect to be on the schedule 2-3 nights/week and chorus/non-speaking roles can expect to be on the schedule 1-2 nights/week through the conclusion of the school year, with more rehearsal time expected later in the schedule. You are responsible for keeping track of the schedule and its latest updates, which will be posted via from the director. I have looked over the production calendar and have no conflicts that will interfere with the dates of the show, or the 2 weeks of dress rehearsals prior, other than shown above. I am familiar with the nature of this show, the characters, and the language used in the script and I am willing to play any role I am cast in as directed in rehearsals and performances. I will provide my own costume(s) and personal props for my character, per approval of the costume coordinator and/or prop coordinator, and am responsible for costs incurred for its purchase or creation. Workshops for costuming will be held at the Orono Discovery Center, for those who need it. The participation fee is $75, with a $150 cap for immediate family. NOTE: With 10 hours of volunteer work (building/painting/sewing/ fundraising/procuring memberships) completed per person, the fee drops to $25 ($75 family cap) and you will be refunded the difference at the end of the run. You will bring the initial fee payment to the first cast meeting; the amount also applies towards 4CT memberships. A rich and complex character. #3 I Wonder What the King... #14 How to Handle a Woman Act I, Scene 1: Pages 2-5, 8-10, Act I, Scene 3: Pages Act I, Scene 6: Pages Act I Scene 11: Pages GUENEVERE A young, spirited woman who is quite caught up in chivalry and the exciting possibilities of a promising life. She loves Arthur, but is very much thrown by the arrival of Lancelot the start of the famous love triangle. #4 The Simple Joys of Maidenhood #19 Before I Gaze at You Again Act I, Scene 1: Pages 8 11 Act I, Scene 5: Pages Act I, Scene 6: Pages Act II, Scene 2: Pages Act II, Scene 6: Pages LANCELOT An abundantly self-assured knight from France who is a passionate disciple of Arthur and his Round Table. The greatest knight in the world, whose only weakness is his love for Guenevere. #10 C est Moi #22 If Ever I Would Leave You Act I, Scene 4: Pages Act I, Scene 5: Pages Act I, Scene 6: Pages Act II, Scene 6: Pages KING PELLINORE A wonderfully funny and stuffily British old knight provides the most consistent comic relief in the play. Dedicated to Arthur. Very eccentric. Act I, Scene 5: Pages Act I, Scene 6: Pages Act I, Scene 9: Pages Act II, Scene 2: Pages MERLYN The famous wizard who teaches Arthur almost all he needs to know. He disappears after the second scene in the show. Act I, Scene 1: Pages 1 4 4

5 MORDRED A truly evil young man, who was sired by Arthur when the king was young and naïve. A thoroughly and fascinatingly unlikable fellow. #23 The Seven Deadly Virtues Act II, Scene 1: Pages 4-7 SIR DINADAN One of the three named knights who serve Arthur. This is the only knight we will audition those who will be cast as the other knights will audition for this role. Dinadan is devoted to Guenevere and doesn t care for Lancelot. #33 Guenevere Act I, Scene 1: Pages 1 2 Act I, Scene 5: Pages Act I, Scene 7: Page 58 NIMUE The nymph who lures Merlyn away with her hauntingly beautiful singing. No reading is required. #8 Follow Me MORGAN LE FEY a powerful sorceress in the Arthurian legend, she is the half-sister of Arthur and aunt of Mordred, who inhabits the forest and is a gourmand with a weakness her sweet tooth and her capacity for mischief and a hidden strength she is invisible. #xx The Persuasion Act II, Scene 3-4: Pages TOM OF WARWICK A young boy, between the ages of 8 and 10 on the small side. Our reason for leaving the theater happy. (note that this role may be double cast.) Act II, Scene 8: Pages CHORUS Those auditioning for Chorus or dancers should prepare one of the following: #11 The Lusty Month of May #33 Guenevere Men may sing #23: The Seven Deadly Virtues although this number may be cut. Children may sing a chosen song, or any song, such as Happy Birthday! There are several other named characters, both male and female, which will be cast based on auditions for the above-named characters, and on singing tryouts. (Clarius, Lady Anne, Lady Sybil, Sir Sagramore, Sir Lionel, Squire Dap, a Page). We are also looking for children for the chorus or to play Nimue s Lake Anemones, or Morgan Le Fey s court attendants (if scenes not cut), which will require some dancing. There are two alternate scenes that may be used or not, depending on the availability of actors at auditions. (The Persuasion; Fie On Goodness (the armory)) Note that auditions will consist of reading, singing and some dance. 5
