3 Laura Elder, Director, is a professional harpist and teacher in the Chattanooga area. She performs with the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera and the Huntsville Symphony. She has also performed with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, and the Fort Wayne Philharmonic. Laura teaches privately and at Covenant College, Lee University, and Southern Adventist University. She also provides harp music at Memorial Hospital. She has taught at the Interlochen Center for the Arts Summer Camp and at the Jan Pennington Gray Harp Camp. She graduated in 2000 with a Masters degree in Harp Performance from Ball State University, where she studied with Elizabeth Richter. She first became interested in studying the harp after seeing a small harp in a Galway, Ireland storefront. Her undergraduate degree is in European History, with a specialty in Irishand Celtic History. She holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of Toronto Centre for Medieval Studies, with an emphasis on Latin and Old Irish Languages. She enjoys reading, painting and hiking. Her husband, Robert, is Principal Violist with the CSO. Tiffany Envid is a professlonol harpist in the greater Chattanooga area. She graduated from Lee University in 2003 with a degree in Business. Her husband, Jeremy, is a middle school band director and they have a one year old daughter, Jazlyn Rose. Tiffany enjoys

4 cooking and going on walks with her husband, daughter and two dogs. Jean Kelly is Director of Diagnostic Testing at Sylvan Learning Center of Chattanooga. Her family heritage is Scottish and she is devoted to Celtic Music. In the past Jean has studied bagpipe, piano, pipe organ, and guitar. Jean is studying harp with Laura and is honored to-be a member of the Harp Ensemble. Nora Kile is a professional flutist with two degrees in Flute Performance. She plays with the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera and teaches at Cadek Conservatory and Southern Adventist University. Describing herself as a "closet harpist," she took up the harp after a mid-life crisis. She is owned by four cats and is married to a handsome harp mover. Ashley PaHerson is a ninth grader at C:SAS.She plays french horn, piano and harp and is involved in band, Model UN and Science Olympiad. She enjoys shopping and cooking. Dr. Lynn Petras is a clinical psychologist and grief counselor with Hospice of Chattanooga. She sings in the choir at St. Thaddeaus Episcopal Church. Lynn especially enjoys Medieval, Renaissance, and Celtic Music. She has hosted exchange students from Germany, China, Thailand, and Korea.

5 Mariah Rinkel is a ninth grader at CCA. She has been playing the harp for nine years and also plays the piano and flute. She is involved in Musical Theater and dance, specializing in ballet, modern, jazz, and African dance. She will not be playing in today's concert. JaneHe Secrest is a Certified Music Practicioner, playing the harp in clincal settings and at the bedside for Hospice of Chattanooga. She is a Sound Therapist, composer and arranger, and is currently working on a recording project. She enjoys photography, yoga, singing, and playing the cello. BeHy Spencer began studying piano with Harold Cadek when she was in first grade. She began the harp while spending one year at Baylor University. After her return to Chattanooga, Mr. Cadek bought a harp for the Conservatory so that she could continue her studies. Betty now teaches the harp at Cadek Conservatory of Music as well as maintaining an active freelancing career. She enjoys reading and gardening. A Martha Summa Chadwick is a concert pianist and teacher. She has spent significant time researching how music and computer technology can be used together in pursuing communication with autistic children. To this end she founded Music Therapy Gateway in Communications, where she combines traditional pedagogy and computer technology to teach children with autism. She is also an Information Techologist with over twenty years of professional experience.

6 The Chattanooga Harp Ensemble was organized in November 2005 as an outreach program resulting from the annual Harp Camp operated by the Jan Pennington Gray Harp Scholarship Fund. Jo Pennington decided to offer area harpists the opportunity to get to know each other and enjoy playing together. Monthly rehearsals are open to all harpists. Please feel free to meet the harpists after the concert. They will be happy to answer questions and accept names of anyone interested in learning to play the harp.
