1 une B 2018 Dear Students we hope that you are enjoying the summer breakl As we prepare or another season o perormances at Belmont we want to make you aware o audition procedures or large ensembles or the upcoming year. Auditions are an important part o the educational process and we expect that you will prepare the materials to the best o your ability. All students must participate in a minimum o one ensemble. Those receiving a scholarship will be assigned to [1) wind ensemble only [z) concert band or [3) wind ensemble and orchestra according to the scholarship agreement. Auditions or wind Ensemble concert Band* and Symphony orchestra will take place on Monday August 20 and Tuesday August zl in McAee concert Hall. All woodwind brass and percussion majors and minors must audition or placement; however students rom allmajors are welcome and encouraged to participate in the audition process Students must be willing to perorm in ensembles as assigned and ollowing the auditions some schedule changes may be necessary. Auditions will be heard during the ollowing times: Monday August 20 2:30 PM Flute 3:30 PM Oboe 4:00 PM Bassoon 4:45 PM Clarinet/Bass Clarinet 6:00 PM Saxophone Tuesday August 21 B:00 AM Percussion 10:00 AM Trombone 10:45 AM Euphonium/Tuba L1:15 PM Horn 12:00 PM Break 1:00 PM Trumpet Each audition will last approximateìy ive minutes and will be heard by ensemble aculty and applied aculty as avaiìable. n order to provide a air and eicient placement auditions will be blind and based upon the perormance o the musical excerpts alone. Please plan to be present during the scheduled time or your instrument. When you arrive check in at the desk outside the door and you will be assigned a number. when it is your turn simply enter the room and play the excerpts as you have prepared them in order. No communication will take place between the panel and the student. you have a conlict with one o the scheduled times please notiy Dr. Kraus (barry.kraus@belmont.edu) so that you may be included during one o the other instrument time slots.

2 xconcert Band enrollment is open to all students on campus. Music majors must participate in the audition process above. Nonmusic majors who wish to play only in Concert Band are not required to play a ormal audition and do not need to download and prepare the excerpts. Classical wind and percussion majors should register or Wind Ensemble MUN 4900J or Concert Band MUN +730) as their ensemble or credit. All additional ensembles must be added under MUN 4895 [zero credit) in the appropriate section Nonmusic and minors majors may register or the ensemble in which they are placed.
