KAWAI ENSEMBLE PIANOS CONCERT PERFORMER A r t i s t r y A n d I n n o v a t i o n CP SERIES
The Ultimate Musical Experience Never before has there been a musical instrument like the Kawai Concert Performer an instrument of such beauty, power and wonderful sound... and the world's first ensemble pianos with CD-RW and DVD technology. Cutting edge technology blends with eighty years of piano building experience to create an instrument with dozens of innovative features and intuitive operation. The Concert Performer... truly the ultimate musical experience.
Exceptional Sounds Concert Performer Ensembles feature hundreds of exceptional instrumental and vocal sounds. Sounds are organized into instrument "families" for easy access via the sound category buttons. The Feature sound category is a special collection of solo instruments played by some of the world's finest musicians. The Vocal sound category contains dozens of real vocal sounds in a variety Pop music stylings, along with Jazz and Classical choirs. Exciting Accompaniment Styles Concert Performer instruments offer many exciting, professionally arranged Accompaniment Styles designed to help your music sound more complete. Styles are organized into musical "genres" for easy access via the Style category buttons. No matter what your skill level may be, you're sure to find a perfect selection among the many Full, Intimate, Solo Piano, Vocal and Guitar styles. Built-in Piano Music Selected Concert Performer models contain built-in Piano Music - over seven hours on top models. Select from Classical, Contemporary, Evening Out, and Holiday music categories - perfect for entertaining or simply relaxing alone. You can even create a list of your favorite selections in each category. Microphone Input Most CP models feature a Microphone Input. Simply plug in a standard mic and your singing will be heard through the instrument's sound system. Built-in MIC Harmonies can make you sound like a vocal duo, trio, or quartet. Reverb and Echo will add a professional touch, or just have some fun with some of the weird and wacky MIC Effects.
Advanced Features... Harmonic Imaging Sound Technology The key to the Concert Performer's exceptional sound quality is Kawai's proprietary Harmonic Imaging technology. Using state-of-the-art digital equipment, Kawai's sound engineers painstakingly recorded hundreds of sounds for the CP series. For the piano sound, Kawai's nine-foot EX Concert Piano was recorded in the anechoic chamber of our advanced Grand Piano Research Facility in Japan. During this process, sound engineers meticulously mapped the unique harmonic structure of each dynamic level of this exquisite piano. Next, software engineers developed a new process called Harmonic Imaging capable of recreating the rich, vibrant sound of the EX Concert Piano... from thunderous fortissimos to the most delicate pianissimos. Thanks to this revolutionary process, each Concert Performer instrument contains a remarkable recreation of not only Kawai's concert grand piano, but of hundreds of other instrumental and vocal sounds as well. The True Touch of a Piano The CP207D, CP177D, and CP137 models all feature our award-winning AWA PRO keyboard action. Utilizing long wooden keys, this action recreates both the weight and movement of our grand piano actions. Accurate key balance points, hammer movements and contact placements combine with proper hammer grading and bass key counterbalancing to produce an amazingly authentic piano feel that is unsurpassed. The CP187 model uses our acclaimed AHAIV keyboard action. This action uses hammers whose weights have been "graded" to match the feel of our acoustic pianos. The AHAIV action delivers an ultra-responsive feel certain to satisfy the demands of even the most discerning player.
Built-In CD Recording The Concert Performer series are the world's only line of ensemble pianos that can record audio CDs right on board. On CD equipped models you can record your "live" playing, pre-recorded internal songs and MIDI files (SMFs). You can also record vocals via the MIC input. External instruments and audio devices can be recorded via line inputs on selected models. Your recorded CD can be played on any standard CD player or computer. You can even make copies of your CD masterpiece (via computer) to share with family and friends. The Concert Performer's CD drive can also play commercially produced CD's from your favorite artists, as well as those from famous music publishers such as Alfred Publishing, Hal Leonard, and Music Minus One*. DVD Playback The CP207D and CP177D models can also play DVD's from their CD drive. Simply attach a TV or monitor to the video out jack to view the DVD video while listening to the audio through the Concert Performer's sound system. You can operate the CP normally and even play along with the DVD! DVD playback can be an invaluable learning tool by following along to the Concert Performer DVD Owner s Manual, or by watching any of the dozens of educational DVD's from Alfred, Hal Leonard, and other publishers. You can even turn your Concert Performer into a Karaoke party machine with karaoke DVD's from Pocket Songs*. Concert Magic For every piano player, there are many more of us who wish we could play. Kawai's amazing Concert Magic feature allows anyone to experience the thrill of playing real music... even if you've never played before! Simply select one of the well-known Concert Magic songs and tap any key. It's that easy! You'll be playing and amazing your friends in no time. Select the lyrics display and soon everyone will be singing along! * For information on the Concert Performer s publishing partners, visit

Songs recorded in either mode can be saved to floppy disk or transferred to audio CD. Registrations There are 8 Registration buttons on the Concert Performer's panel, each containing a "setup" that automatically selects a style and tempo, left and right-hand sounds, as well as many other details. Pressing the REGIST GROUPS button reveals 20 different groups of preprogrammed registrations registrations in all. You can even save your own registrations to any of the 160 locations - a perfect way to personalize your CP for the kinds of music you like to play! DVD Owner s Manual An easy to understand DVD Owner s Manual is available for the Concert Performer series. View the Quick Guide for an overview of the basic operation of your instrument. The in-depth Comprehensive Guide offers details to virtually all of the CP's sophisticated features. On the CP207D and CP177D models, you can even watch the DVD from your instrument (via an attached monitor) and follow along with your video instructor, button by button!
