1 ~ Jennifer Orr ~ 2019 NIFPA Speech Arts Adjudicator Jennifer Orr lives and works in Calgary and has been a member of the Mount Royal University Conservatory s Speech Arts and Drama faculty since 1986, and the coordinator of the program since Jennifer maintains an active leadership role in the discipline of speech and drama, making contributions as a teacher, administrator, adjudicator, examiner, workshop clinician, and curriculum development. Jennifer Orr holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Calgary and Associate Diplomas in Speech Arts and Drama from the Mount Royal University Conservatory, Calgary, and the Royal Conservatory, Toronto. Jennifer specializes in teaching children and young adults and maintains a busy teaching schedule that includes a busy private studio, group lessons in creative drama, speech arts, public speaking, storytelling, and speech arts theory. She recently developed curriculum for an enhanced communication certificate program designed for internationally educated professionals, and a Speech Arts for Media program. Jennifer has a long-standing affiliation with the Royal Conservatory of Music, serving as Speech and Drama specialist and member of the College of Examiners, examining both practical and theoretical subjects. She was a member of the team that produced both the 2000 and the 2011 editions of the RCM Examinations Speech Arts and Drama syllabus. Jennifer adjudicates speech festival competitions across Canada, working at both the local and provincial level. She is passionate about the power of the speaking voice and the art of communication..

8 ~Joe Berarducci~ 2019 NIFPA Piano Adjudicator Joe Berarducci resides in Kelowna, where he teaches piano and theory. He also conducts examinations for Conservatory Canada. His music studies began in Revelstoke with Janice Patrick. He has a BMUS from UBC and a Master of Arts in Music from Western Washington University. He has been involved with Carl Orff Canada for thirty years having served as president of the B.C. Chapter and the National. He has worked at many universities and adjudicated festivals throughout BC in piano, voice, choral and ensembles. For five years he worked for the Ministry of Education on the Fine Arts Curriculum. Joe has co-authored the Windsong Recorder series with Birthe Kulich and completed a Teachers Guide for Books 1-4. He and his wife have co-authored twelve music stories for a three-season series with Orange County s Pacific Symphony. This season some of these shows are being performed in Kelowna with members of the Okanagan Symphony and the Youth Orchestra. In 2006, Joe received the award of Honorary Life Member to Music for Children, Carl Orff Canada. Other honours include Professional Music Teacher of the Year in North Vancouver and in BC.

13 ~Tyson Dokjnas~ 2019 NIFPA Strings Adjudicator Campbell River native, Tyson Doknjas, is an active freelance violinist and private teacher in Victoria. He is a member of the Victoria Symphony and performs with various groups on Vancouver Island, including Pacific Opera Victoria, Sidney Classical Orchestra, and Galiano Ensemble of Victoria. He studied violin performance at the University of Victoria with Sharon Stanis of the Lafayette String Quartet. During his years there, he was concertmaster of the Greater Victoria Youth Orchestra. Tyson has participated in various orchestral programs across the country, including the National Academy Orchestra in Hamilton, Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute in Toronto, and Symphony Orchestra Academy of the Pacific in Powell River. In addition to playing in various orchestral ensembles, Tyson performs concerts with his wife, co-member of Sombrio Duo, for those isolated from the arts community with the help of the Health Arts Society. As an avid music educator, Tyson worked as a string mentor through the University of Victoria where he taught at grade schools across the greater Victoria region. Presently he is a part of the Harmony Project in Sooke, B.C. where he coaches their chamber and orchestral ensembles. On multiple occasions, Tyson has also served as a string sectional coach for the Greater Victoria Youth Orchestra.
