Luis Pasquet, (b. 1917) one o the most widely known conductors o Uruguay, immigrated to Finland in the beginning o the 70's. He initially worked or the Finnish National balet or two years, but ater that moved to Lahti. Luis Pasquet started his musical studies with the iano at the music conservatory o Salto, Uruguay, rom where he moved on to study coosing and conducting to the Kolisher conservatory in Montevideo. His musical interests where rom an early stage directed towards iressionism, eksressionism and jazz. Hence, his music has delicate shades o all these branches o music. When working as a conductor or tv and radio o Montevideo, Luis Pasquet conducted various musical styles together with to guest soloists like Josehine Baker and Maurice Chevalier. One o his deinitive strengths in the branch o Jazz is his wide control o dierent styles o jazz: new orleans, chicago, dixieland, New York high-brow, swing, bebo and cool. This wide alette he has had or dislay or exale in the Davenort Five-quintet he has ounded. Davenort Five erormed together with jazz-greats like Louis Armstrongin and Ella Fitzgerald. Luis Pasquet, yksi Uruguain tunnetuii kaellimestareita ja säveltäjiä muutti Suomeen 1970-luvun alussa. Hänen musiikkinsa on erittäin hienostunut sekoitus iressionismiä, jazzia ja Etelä- Amerikkalaisia rytmejä. Montevideon television ja radion kaellimestarina toimiessaan 50-luvulla Luis Pasquet johti loistokkaasti monia tyylilajeja yhdessä huiusolistien kanssa. Solisteina vierailivat mm. Josehine Baker ja Maurice Chevalier. Jazz-musiikin saralla yksi hänen meriittinsä on valtaisan tyylimäärän hallinta: new orleans, chicago, dixieland, New Yorkin high-brow, swing, bebo ja cool. Näitä suuntauksia hän on toteuttanut mm. erustamassaan Davenort Five-kvintetissä. Davenort Five esiintyi yhdessä mm. Louis Armstrongin ja Ella Fitzgeraldin kanssa.
