In addition, the student s music teacher must be a current member of NAfME. Students will record their audition at one of the above sites. Students who do not live within a reasonable driving distance from one of the above sites should contact one of the chairpersons for information on recording their audition. In addition, students must also be a member in good standing of their district honor ensemble if one is available to them. Directors may register their students using the spreadsheet found at under the all-state band tab. The audition will consist of the required excerpt (attached), and a chromatic scale. The registration deadline is Thursday, January 5th. The Audition Schedule will be posted on January 12th. Please bring the following to your audition: a) Audition Application This must be signed by your band teacher and have their current NAfME number and expiration date indicated. b) NMEA All State Rehearsal Code of Conduct signed by you and your parents. c) NMEA All State Rehearsal Attendance Policy signed by you and your parents. d) Audition fee of $10.50 per student must be paid prior to audition. - Directors will be invoiced based on their application (due 1/20/17). Directors, please make one payment per school ensemble. 2 All-State Audition Etudes 2017 All Students will be required to start their audition by playing a Chromatic Scale which should be performed to the most accurate and practical speed / range of your ability, tongued up and slurred down. Students will then be expected to play all etudes for the instrument as described below. Keep in mind the tempo markings are suggestions; students are encouraged to play the etudes as accurately as possible regardless of tempo.
