2 David Ashley White David Ashley White, Moores School o Music Proessor o omposition, ith degrees rom the University o Houston (B.M. and M.M.) and the University o Texas at Austin (D.M.A.), served as Director o the Moores School rom , during hich time he held the Margaret M. Alkek and Margaret Alkek Williams Endoed hair. His secular and sacred compositions are idely perormed and pulished, and he has received numerous commissions rom various organizations, schools, churches and individuals. His vocal and instrumental music is recorded on several commercial laels, including Zephyr Echoes rom the American athedral, a selection o White s sacred music, sung y the St. Paul s hoir, Houston, and The Blue Estuaries, perormed y the Houston hamer hoir. On the Gothic lael is Praise the Spirit, sung y the Palmer hurch hoir, Houston, containing a numer o White s anthems, motets, service music, and hymns. A seventh-generation Texan, White is an active memer o the Houston arts community, serving on oards that include a mayoral appointment to the Houston Arts Alliance. In addition, he has een designated the Distinguished omposer y the American Guild o Organists or its upcoming national convention to e held in Houston in 016, here his anthem, With a Shining Like the Sun or mixed chorus, rass, timpani, organ and congregation, ill e premiered.
