Special thanks to the Estherville Student Senate for helping sponsor this event.! Iowa Lakes Community College Handbell Choir will present a free concert for area residents on Sunday, May 1, at 7:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend the performance to be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 3501 Hill Avenue, in Spirit Lake. The Iowa Lakes Community College Handbell Choir is an ensemble which performs on a five-octave range, from C3 to C8, of Schulmerich handbells. The bells are made of bronze and range in weight from four ounces to 10 pounds. The Choir also supplements handbells with a five-octave set of handchimes. Many different handbell techniques, from the singing bowl to gyro effect, are on display in a program that covers a wide variety of music. Free will donations are accepted toward the purchase of new bass handchimes.

They joined voices with Briar Cliff University, Morningside College, Northwestern College, University of South Dakota, Western Iowa Tech Community College, the Sioux County Oratorio and the Siouxland Master Chorale to perform Beethoven s 9th Symphony, composed in 1824, and considered one of Beethoven greatest works.

4 Spring Tour to Hinton Schools On Monday, April 18 the Iowa Lakes music students took their show on the road to area high schools. The purpose of the trip was to show younger students the importance of having music in their lives now and the impact it can have on their future. This year the group traveled to Hinton Community Schools where they performed for over 300 students. Performing were the handbell choir, jazz band, jazz singers, women s ensemble, men s ensemble and concert choir under the direction of Carol Ayres and Brett Fuelberth.

5 Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Thanks to everyone who attended our 2016 musical production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Also, many thanks to everyone involved. It took a lot of dedication from many individuals to put on such a fun and amazing production. Pictured are the musical cast and orchestra.
