1 Beechcraft SERVICE BULLETIN MANDATORY SB TITLE NAVIGATION - REPLACEMENT OF NONCONFORMING ALTIMETERS EFFECTIVITY MODEL SERIAL NUMBERS G36 (Bonanza) E-4076 thru E-4079, E-4084 G58 (Baron) TH-2435, TH-2447 thru TH-2448, TH-2451 thru TH-2457 REASON NOTE: This service bulletin also applies to service facility stock with suspect altimeters identified in Table 1 of the United Instruments, Inc. Service Bulletin No. 13, dated March 25, Altimeters identified in Table 1 of the attached United Instruments, Inc. Service Bulletin No. 13 are susceptible to developing a slow diaphragm leak which would affect the accuracy of the altimeters. DESCRIPTION This service bulletin provides instructions to inspect the Altimeter to determine if the serial number matches any of the altimeter serial numbers defined in Table 1 of the attached United Instruments, Inc. Service Bulletin No. 13. Affected altimeters shall be replaced. COMPLIANCE MANDATORY. This service bulletin must be accomplished at the next 100-hour or 12-month (annual-type) inspection. A service document published by Textron Aviation may be recorded as completed in an aircraft log only when the following requirements are satisfied: 1) The mechanic must complete all of the instructions in the service document, including the intent therein. 2) The mechanic must correctly use and install all applicable parts supplied with the service document kit. Only with written authorization from Textron Aviation can substitute parts or rebuilt parts be used to replace new parts. 3) The mechanic or airplane owner must use the technical data in the service document only as approved and published. 4) The mechanic or airplane owner must apply the information in the service document only to aircraft serial numbers identified in the Effectivity section of the document. 5) The mechanic or airplane owner must use maintenance practices that are identified as acceptable standard practices in the aviation industry and governmental regulations. No individual or corporate organization other than Textron Aviation is authorized to make or apply any changes to a Textron Aviation-issued service document or flight manual supplement without prior written consent from Textron Aviation. Service Bulletin No. 13 (Dated March 25, 2016 or latest revision) Applicable Model Maintenance Manual PUBLICATIONS AFFECTED None ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS 1. Look in the airplane paperwork to see if the Altimeter was replaced with one of the serial numbers in Table 1 of the attached United Instruments, Inc. Service Bulletin No. 13. NOTE: If you are not sure from the airplane paperwork if a suspect altimeter is installed, you must look on the altimeter to find the serial number. A. If the serial number of the altimeter installed on your airplane is in Table 1 of the attached United Instruments, Inc. Service Bulletin No. 13, go to step 2. B. If the serial number of the altimeter installed on your airplane is not in Table 1 of the attached United Instruments, Inc. Service Bulletin No. 13, no further action is required. Go to step Prepare the airplane for maintenance. A. Make sure that the airplane is electrically grounded. B. Make sure that all switches are in the OFF/NORM position. C. Disconnect electrical power from the airplane. (1) Disconnect the airplane battery. (2) Disconnect external electrical power. D. Attach maintenance warning tags to the battery and external power receptacle that have "DO NOT CONNECT ELECTRICAL POWER - MAINTENANCE IN PROGRESS" written on them. 3. Remove the suspect altimeter, make note of its part number, verify that the serial number is found in table 1 of the United Instruments, Inc. Service Bulletin No. 13, and replace it with the applicable serviceable altimeter listed in Material Information. Return the suspect altimeter to Textron Aviation Parts Distribution for exchange. (Refer to the applicable Maintenance Manual for removal and installation of the altimeter.) If the altimeter is no listed in table 1, put it back and correct the paperwork. NOTE: The existing altimeter may be returned to Textron Aviation Parts Distribution, Warranty Administration, 285 South Greenwich Road, Bldg B89, Docks 1-4, Wichita, KS 67206, USA, and exchanged for an upgraded unit. Due to limited availability, ADVANCE SCHEDULING IS REQUIRED. Please expedite the return of the removed part. 4. Remove the maintenance warning tags and connect the airplane battery. 5. Do a static system leak check and a functional check of the altimeter. (Refer to the applicable Model Maintenance Manual for leak and functional checks.) 6. Textron Aviation-owned and Textron Aviation-authorized Service Facilities rated to perform maintenance on the specific model of Beechcraft Aircraft may submit a claim for the labor necessary to accomplish this service document as defined in the Labor Hours section of this document.. After this service document has been accomplished, a claim must be submitted to Textron Aviation within 30 days of the service document completion. Claims for compliance of this service document are to be filed as a W4 type claim. 7 UNITED INSTRUMENTS, INC Comotara Avenue, Wichita, Kansas Phone: (316) Telefax: (316) Service Bulletin No. 13 March 25, 2016 SERVICE BULLETIN TO: Owner or user of certain United Instruments, Inc Series Altimeters TITLE: Diaphragm Assemblies PURPOSE: Replacement of nonconforming diaphragm assemblies in the affected altimeters. EFFECTIVITY: This service bulletin applies to specific 5934 Series Altimeters that were manufactured between January 2015 and February 2016, which are identified on the attached Table of Affected Serial Numbers. See Table 1 attached. GENERAL: The altimeters covered by this bulletin may display higher altitude than actual altitude. DESCRIPTION: Altimeters identified on Table 1 are susceptible to developing a slow diaphragm leak which would affect the accuracy of the altimeters. CORRECTIVE ACTION: Replace with new diaphragm assembly (P/N ). COMPLIANCE AND HANDLING INSTRUCTIONS: An error in the barometric setting of affected altimeters identified in Table 1 is an indication of diaphragm leakage. For altimeters currently installed in aircraft: Check the serial number on the altimeter nameplate to determine whether it is listed in Table 1. If so, remove the altimeter as soon as possible and return it to United Instruments, or to a designated service facility, for correction in accordance with United Instruments instructions. For altimeters NOT currently installed in aircraft: Return all affected altimeters identified in Table 1 to United Instruments for correction no later than March 31, Return Instructions: When returning the altimeter to United Instruments, or to a designated service facility, each altimeter should be labeled SB-13, and adequately wrapped to protect it from damage, and packaged in a container no smaller than 8 x8 x8. Return the altimeter by United Parcel Service (UPS) Ground Service. Page 1 of 12

8 IDENTIFICATION OF CORRECTED ALTIMETERS: Altimeters that have been corrected in accordance with this service bulletin will be identified with a yellow dot, approximately 1/4 inch (6 mm) in diameter, approximately 1 inch (25 mm) to the left side of the nameplate, and letter M, approximately 1/8 inch (3 mm) high will be metal stamped on the nameplate after the name ALTIMETER. Credit Information Removal and Installation: For an altimeter identified in Table 1 which is installed in an aircraft, the actual charges incurred for removal and re-installation (to include required check for static system leaks) will be reimbursed up to a maximum of $120 for each aircraft. A completed claim form (attached) must be submitted by March 31, 2017 to be eligible for reimbursement.
