3 Timothy Albrecht Emory University Organist Timothy Albrecht concertizes from Alaska to the Andes, from China to Chicago. New York s American Organist states, He plays with facility and fluency that we all strive for... a sheer pleasure... a delightful musician. The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung praises his ever-present artistry and virtuosity. Nobel Peace Prize winner Desmond Tutu once wrote him about an upcoming performance, I am so looking forward to that... knowing you will play as if your life depended on it! He has performed organ music of Olivier Messiaen before the Dalai Lama. Unforgettable, because inimitable, writes the Darmstädter Beiträge zur neuen Musik. A Life Member at Cambridge University, Timothy Albrecht graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Oberlin College, earning his doctorate from Eastman School of Music. A full professor at Emory, he also has taught many masterclasses at other venues, including at The Juilliard School, in Taipei, and at the Oundle International Organ Academy in England. Timothy Albrecht has composed a dozen published volumes of organ music entitled Grace Notes and he has released nine solo compact discs. During the past 20 years, his annual Timothy Albrecht Performs Bach Live, Bach Bowl, and Bach Birthday recitals have included the Southern premiere of Bach s entire two volume Well-Tempered Clavier, large portions of his Art of Fugue, The Musical Offering, and masterworks of Bach s organ oeuvre. Timothy Albrecht has one daughter, Esther, who lives in New York with her husband. She earned an MFA in creative writing in Vermont after graduating as a theater major at Emory. 3
