Artists: Marco Rogliano (Vln); Gianluca Luisi (Pno). (1 CD) (Naxos) NXS $9.99 Thuille s writing remained, to a large degree, conservatively romantic, as can be heard here [samples on EA]... But it was after I got a chance to sit down and read the composer s notes about each piece that they really came to life for me... Artists: Milana Chernyavska (Pno); David Fruhwirth (Vln). (1 CD) (Delta) DELT $16.99 Much of it is similar to chamber works from Shostakovich and Prokofiev. The tonal vocabulary is similar, but Rakov s music is lighter, not bearing the virtuosic intensity of those composers works. It s more like salon music, fun, even a little mischievous at times... -Ballyk, EA Stolzel: Quadri di Dresden and Brussels Baroque Works: Gottfried Heinrich Stölzel ( ): Quadri di Dresda e Bruxelles, for oboe, horn, bassoon & basso continuo. Artists: Epoca Barocca.
