The ork at irst stirred u controversy because some believed it as irreverent to resent a religious subect in the concert hall. ut King George as so imressed at the London remiere o Messiah that he stood u during the Halleluah Chorus. Some say that he as merely stretching. Regardless the rest o the audience as obligated to stand in resect or the king thus beginning a custom that is still olloed today. n this arrangement by Andre H. Dabczynski ive avorite themes rom Handel s masteriece are heard. irst is the gentle melody o the orchestral interlude astoral Symhony. Next comes the main theme rom the aria He Shall eed His lock originally or alto soloist. t is olloed by another ell-knon alto aria O Thou That Tellest Good Tidings. The oening o the chorus or nto s a Child s orn is then erormed and the arrangement concludes ith the amiliar themes rom the great chorus Halleluah. notes to the conductor Themes rom Handel s Messiah is an arrangement o ive o hat are arguably among the most beloved melodies in aroque literature. n some cases the themes have been simliied to 3/ or / time signatures or reading ease. ut the essence o the melodies remains.
