Grading: Your course grade will re lect what you have learned and how you have demonstrated this through rehearsal, performance, coursework and assessment. Overall Semester grade: 85% Course grade 15% Semester inal exam Course Grade: Standards are realized through all grading categories. Grading categories are weighted as follows: Summative: 50% Performances Formative: 10% Assignments; 10% Tests/Quizzes; 30% Participation Grading Disbursement: A= B= C= D=60 69 F= <59 Reassessment Policy: Summative Assignments (Performances): Attendance at curricular concerts is ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED. Students will only be excused from a performance in the event of illness or family emergency. Each case will be dealt with individually and the Vocal Music Director, in collaboration with building administration, will make determination of excuse validity and legitimacy. Do not assume that your excuse will be valid. Students excused from a concert are responsible for the music performed and will be given an assignment based on the music studied in order to earn missed concert attendance points. Excused absence credit will not be applied to grades until both a completed alternative assignment and a hand written letter of explanation from a parent or guardian has been submitted. Alternative assignments must be completed by the end of the current quarter. A conference with the Director of Vocal Music, missing student and parent/guardian may also be required. Please keep in mind that a family emergency is de ined as an unplanned and/or unpleasant family crisis, such as a death or impending death; plan for transportation issues in advance. Extra curricular activities con licting with curricular performances must be noti ied of student absences in advance. It is the responsibility of the student to inform coaches or sponsors of impending absence at the beginning of the season, rather than the week before. Students are expected to work out these con licts even if an extracurricular event has been recently rescheduled. Failure to adhere to this policy will result in an unexcused absence, having a serious impact on inal grades.
5 Formative Assignments (assignments, tests/quizzes/participation): All late work must be completed by the end of the current quarter for a maximum grade of 80%. Anything turned in after the end of the current quarter will not be accepted. Reassessment Guidelines: Education in music techniques is a process that involves listening, learning, trying, and sometimes not succeeding to the degree in which the artist desires. If a student earns below an 80% on a given assessment and inds this to be unsatisfactory, they may use the instructor completed rubric as a guide for suggestion and resubmit within one week of rubric distribution. Communication: Teachers make every effort to respond to s and phone calls within 48 hours during the workweek. The best way to communicate with teachers is through ; however, if you haven t received a response in 48 hours, please resend the or call their voic . Your may have gone into the spam folder. Help: Make an appointment with your teacher. Parents or Guardians: We need your help! Parents should actively check In inite Campus for their student s grade. o The grades on In inite Campus will be accurate only at Mid Quarter and Quarter. Prior to those dates, the grade re lected is luid. o In inite Campus is a communication tool until inal grade is posted. Please ask your student about their school work Check with your individual teacher for classroom procedures, schedules, and daily class news. * Naperville North Vocal Music Required Dates: Monday, October 23 Concert Tech Call Time: 3:30 6:00 NPAC Tuesday, October 24 Fall Concert Call Time: 6:15 Concert Time: 7:00 NPAC Monday, November 13 Concert Tech Call Time: 3:30 6:15 NPAC Tuesday, November 14 Unite Concert Call Time: 6:15 Concert Time: 7:00 NPAC Monday, December 11 Concert Tech Call Time: 3:30 6:30 NPAC Tuesday, December 12 Winter ConcertCall Time: 6:15 Concert Time: 7:00 NPAC *Monday, March 19 Concert Tech Call Time: 3:30 6:00 NPAC *Tuesday, March 20 Spring Concert Call Time: 6:15 Concert Time: 7:00 NPAC
