4 LEADERS KAREN KENNEDY Towson University Praised by the San Francisco Classical Voice for her wizardry with voices and named by the Honolulu Star Bulletin as... a popular and charismatic leader, Karen Kennedy currently holds the position of Director of Choirs at Towson University. Before joining the faculty at Towson, she held the positions of Chorus Director for the Honolulu Symphony, Artistic Director for the Hawai`i International Choral Festival, and Director of Choral Activities at the University of Hawai`i at Manoa. Recent performances include subscriptions series concerts with the Honolulu Symphony, as well as with All-State Choirs throughout the country and festival choruses here and abroad. This year, she will conduct the All-State Choirs of Minnesota, Maryland, and Colorado, adding to her previous experiences with the All-State Choirs of Hawai i and Oregon. Upcoming festivals include honor choirs in Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia. In addition to regular podium performances Dr. Kennedy enjoys the opportunity to present workshops on choral repertoire, conducting, and choral pedagogy and vocal pedagogy. Her workshops have been a part of recent ACDA and MENC division and state conventions, most recently in Connecticut, Maryland, Oregon and Hawai`i, and Minnesota. Dr. Kennedy has received numerous awards for teaching, including the University of Hawai`i Chancellor s Citation for Meritorious Teaching, Arizona State University s Manzanita Top Prof Award, Butler University s Faculty Distinction Award, and is a two-time recipient of the Lawrence Township Schools Superintendent s Award. Dr. Kennedy is a past-president of the Hawai`i chapter of the American Choral Directors Association, and currently serves on the Maryland state board as Collegiate Repertoire and Standards Chair. She is an active member of Chorus America, and is a founding member of the National Collegiate Choral Organization. France & Monaco Festival Riviera 2

5 LEADERS JOSHUA HABERMANN University of Miami A native of California, Joshua Habermann is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, where he completed doctoral studies in conducting with Craig Hella Johnson. As professor of music at San Francisco State University from 1996 to 2008 he coordinated the choral program and led the SFSU Chamber Singers to international engagements in France, Germany, the Czech Republic, Cuba, and China. National invitations include multiple concerts for the California Music Educators Convention, and a performance for the American Choral Directors Association in Johsua Habermann s long association with the San Francisco Symphony Chorus began in 1991, when he joined the chorus as a singer. From he was assistant to Vance George, and in he prepared the chorus for concerts with Michael Tilson Thomas and Charles Dutoit. In Fall 2008 Habermann was named director of the choral studies program at the University of Miami Frost School of Music, where he directs the Frost Chorale. He is also director of the Master Chorale of South Florida, a community-based chorus dedicated to the performance of choral-orchestral masterworks. In 2009 he was appointed music director of the Santa Fe Desert Chorale, a 24-voice professional chamber choir that presents a 5-week summer festival and a 2-week winter season each year in Northern New Mexico. As a singer (tenor) he has performed regularly with the Oregon Bach Festival Chorus, and Conspirare, a professional chorus based in Austin, Texas. 3

12 EXTENSION Travel to Avignon Explore Avignon, dominating the Rhone River with its famous bridge and the bucolic scenery of the Barthelasse Island which invites you to a walk or a ride across fields and small roads. On the other side of the river, the lovely city of Villeneuve-les-Avignon with its fortresses, symbols of the King of France, the walls from the 14th century still surrounding the city, and the Palace of the Popes, the monument built by the 7 Popes. Transfer to Aix-en-Provence Tuesday Aix is the historical capital of Provence. A rich heritage, cultural diversity, beautiful fountains, a lovely center with the Cours Mirabeau and many incomparable places of interest. A city of traditions, Antique shops, art galleries, Cézanne Workshop (entrance fee included), thermal baths, the Santon de Provence, etc. Stroll in the pedestrian roads of Aix and follow the itinerary on the feet of Cézanne. Our tour will show-case the amazing beauty of the Aix-en-Provence countryside. We will drive along the famous Ste Victoire mountain that Cézanne often use as a them for his paintings. 13 The coverage in the policy is set out fully in the full Travel Insurance Certificate that can be seen online at or that KIconcerts can send you. SOME HIGHLIGHTS: CANCEL FOR ANY REASON BENEFIT If you cancel your Trip for any reason not otherwise covered by this policy, you will be reimbursed for the amount paid for 75% of the prepaid, forfeited, non-refundable Payments or Deposits you paid for your Trip provided: 1) your premium payment was received within 14 days of the initial deposit/payment for your Trip; and 2) you cancel your Trip two (2) days or more before your Scheduled Trip Departure Date. OTHER REASONS FOR PRE-DEPARTURE CANCELLATION If you cancel your Trip for a covered reason, you will be reimbursed for the amount of prepaid, forfeited, non-refundable Payments or Deposits that you paid for your Trip. They will pay your additional cost as a result of a change in the per person occupancy rate for prepaid travel arrangements if a Traveling Companion s Trip is canceled for a covered reason and your Trip is not canceled. POST-DEPARTURE TRIP INTERRUPTION The company will pay benefits if you have to interrupt your trip for covered reasons TRAVEL DELAY If your trip is delayed for 12 hours or more for specified reasons, the company will reimburse you up to $150 per day up to a maximum of $750 for reasonable additional expenses incurred by you for hotel accommodations, meals, telephone calls and local transportation while you are delayed. Subject to certain conditions, the company will reimburse you, less any amount paid or payable from any other valid and collectible insurance or indemnity, up to $1,500 for direct loss, theft, damage or destruction of your Baggage, passports or visas during your Trip. The company will reimburse you, less any amount paid or payable from any other valid and collectible insurance or indemnity, up to $150 per day to a maximum of $300, for the cost of reasonable additional clothing and personal articles purchased by you, if your Baggage is delayed for 24 hours or more during your Trip. 14 TRAVEL INSURANCE PLAN WAIVER OF THE PRE-EXISTING CONDITION EXCLUSION The Pre-Existing Condition Exclusion is waived provided you meet the following requirements: 1) the premium for the coverage is received by KIconcerts within 14 days of the initial deposit/ payment for your Trip & 2) you are not disabled from travel at the time you pay your premium. Please Note, this policy may not be purchased after you have made final payment for your Trip. ONE CALL A 24-hour worldwide service for medical emergencies, transmitting emergency messages, arranging emergency cash transfer, replacing lost travel documents including tickets and passports. CONDITIONS AND LIMITATIONS Certain exclusions and limitations apply and are detailed in the Travel Insurance Certificate. For example, coverage does not apply to: any Sickness or condition of you, a Traveling Companion or an Immediate Family Member traveling with you that existed during the 60 days prior to the effective date of the coverages (this exclusion is waived if your premium is received within 14 days of your initial deposit/payment for your Trip and you are not disabled from travel at the time you pay your premium), suicide, normal pregnancy, war or any act of war, mental or nervous disorders. COVERED EVENTS For all items other than the Cancel For Any Reason coverage, the insurance company specifies the covered events. These are set out in the travel insurance certificate but include Other Covered Events, as defined, include the following events or their consequences: 1) Post-Departure Trip Interruption due to cancellation of arrangements by an airline, cruise line or tour operator due to inclement weather, mechanical breakdown of the aircraft on which you are scheduled to travel, organized labor strikes that affect public transportation or a government-mandated shut down of an airport or air traffic control system for reasons other than a Terrorist Act or an act of war (maximum of $750); or 2) cancellation or interruption of your Trip due to: a documented traffic accident while en route to departure; being hijacked or quarantined (except as a result of an epidemic or pandemic); jury duty; destruction of your Home or workplace by vandalism, burglary or natural disaster; being called to the emergency service of government to provide aid or relief in the event of a natural disaster; a documented theft of passports or visas; transfer of employment of 250 miles or more. A Traveling Companion is defined as a person whose name appears with yours on the same Trip arrangements and who during the Trip will share accommodations with you. Sickness or injury must commence while the Travel Protection Plan is in effect for you. This plan does not cover a loss that results from an illness, disease, or other condition (of you, an Immediate Family Member, Traveling Companion or Business Partner), event or circumstance which occurs at a time when this plan is not in effect for you.
