Quite literally, there should be a gentle ind eect created here. The lute entrance at measure 6 should be ery breathy ith careul attention to intonation. At measure, allo your marimba layer and, i aailable, your iano layer to seak aboe the ensemble. The subsequent entrances in trumets, horns, bassoon, and euhonium should be ery gentle. The crescendo into measure should be intense, but not too aggressie. It is imortant that this entire section establish a somehat tense and ensie mood. Less is more here! The timani transition into measure should be ery aggressie, establishing a battle eel or this next section. The allet created by the tubas, euhoniums, baritone saxohone, bass clarinet, and bassoon should be ery resent, but not oeroering. The toms (or otional taiko drums) and bass drum are marked at, but, the initial attacks should be ery intense! The trombone entrance at measure should be ery cris and biting. Let them hae un ith this! The sells in the horns, trumets, saxohones, clarinets, oboe, and lutes at measure 7 and in all subsequent aearances should be menacing. The accelerando that begins at measure 5 is marked at bm and increases to 0 bm by measure 5, but you are certainly ree to increase this temo as your ensemble control ill allo. It is imortant that this section build to bombastic climax at measure 60. No holds barred and gloes o! James Horner s music or the closing credits o the ilms he scored constitutes some o his most memorable ork. The rhythmic ostinato in the lo oodinds and timani should be ery cris and seak ell through the ensemble. Eery subsequent entrance in this section should be ery choral in nature.
