1 Thank you for taking a moment to consider the Dreamtime Project for your musical programming. The Dreamtime Project shares and teaches rhythms from around the world, incorporating Drumming, Native American flute, Didgeridoo, and Storytelling in a way that is educational, inspirational, and most importantly, fun! Many of our craft making workshops let children make their own instruments that they can take home. Students learn about some of the many diverse cultures in our world, as well as building skills such as cooperation, leadership, self expression and developing positive interactions within a group. Many Virginia SOL s will be covered, including those involving cultural histories of tribal societies, rhythms, folklore, myths, songs, instruments, crafts, etc. The Dreamtime Project has a menu of programs and performances available, and can also create a curriculum that suites your needs, time frame, and budget. 2 Jim Gagnon has been a musician, storyteller, and educator for over 15 years. He brings a refreshing and humorous take on the journey of the human spirit to audiences small and large, young and old. Using African drums, Australian didgeridoo, Native American flutes, and weaving stories both traditional and new, Jim leads audiences on a journey through history and culture. The Dreamtime project has produced 5 CDs of music for dance and meditation and has provided performances and workshops for children and adults worldwide. Jim is an Artist in Residence in Albermarle County, Virginia, and is on staff at several camps and schools, including UVA and The Rhythm Renewal at St. Francis University. His life mission is to inspire those who never have before, to play music and tell their own stories. 4 Didgeridoo: Now and then This workshop is designed to introduce and explore the exciting world. of the Didgeridoo. The Australian Aboriginal people have been playing the didgeridoo for tens of thousands of years. The instrument is traditionally made by termites that hollow out branches of eucalyptus trees. The aboriginals use the didgeridoo for music, prayers, ceremony and to enter the ever present Dreamtime. Modern people all over the world have been rediscovering the didgeridoo in all sorts of music and settings. Meditative and reflective are a few effects of the vibration from this instrument. Healthcare practitioners and music therapist have used the sounds of the didgeridoo for stress reduction and good old fashion fun! This class is perfect for beginners and experienced players.
