3 Biographies Peter Nathan Foltz, tenor Tenor Peter Nathan Foltz, who recently joined Los Angeles Opera's Resident Artist program, recently made his Glimmerglass Opera debut in the role of Prince Saphir in Offenbach's Bluebeard as a member of the Glimmerglass Young American Artist Program. He recently completed his second year as a resident artist with the prestigious Pittsburgh Opera Center. He has performed with Pittsburgh Opera in mainstage productions as the Judge in Un ballo in maschera, Snout in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Remendado in Carmen and the Older Brother in Dead Man Walking, as well as Telemaco in Il ritorno d'ulisse in patria with the Pittsburgh Opera Center. During previous summers, he was invited to join the Merola Opera Program, where he sang Slender in The Merry Wives of Windsor. He has also performed the role of Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni with the California Music Festival. is a recipient of the Hilda Bell Award at the Palm Beach Opera Competition as well as the Sullivan Foundation Encouragement Award. Peter Nathan Foltz is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music and Northwestern University School of Music. While at Northwestern, he sang the roles of Arnalta in Monteverdi's L'incoronazione di Poppea, the Male Chorus in Britten's The Rape of Lucretia and Judge Danforth in Ward's The Crucible, as well as four solo recitals. Upcoming appearances include his European debut as a soloist in Bach's St. John Passion with the Deutches Symphonie-Orchester under Kent Nagano in Dortmund. Los Angeles Opera appearances for the season include his company debut as Brighella in Ariadne auf Naxos, followed by performances as Remendado in Carmen, Parpignol in La bohème, the Footman in Vanessa, the Messenger in Aida, and Benvolio in Roméo et Juliette. Andrew Wilkowske, baritone Andrew Wilkowske, baritone, joins the Los Angeles Opera's prestigious Resident Artist Program for the season, making his debut as Sciarrone in the current production of Tosca. A gifted actor as well as singer, Wilkowske's Papageno in Virginia Opera's Magic Flute "stole the show" according to the Washington Post. Other recent operatic credits include Henry Kissinger in Nixon in China and Papageno in The Magic Flute with Minnesota

4 Biographies continued Opera; the title role in Don Pasquale with the Merola Opera Program; Zeta in The Merry Widow with Minnesota Opera; Marcello in La Boheme with Lyric Opera San Antonio; Leporello in Don Giovanni with Skylight Opera Theatre; Gregorio in Romeo et Juliette with Cincinnati Opera; Thomas Putnam in The Crucible at the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati. Andrew made his European debut in 1999 as Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro at the Opera Theatre of Lucca, Italy. In addition, Andrew is a frequent soloist with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra and Minnesota Orchestra. A Regional Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in 2005, he was also the First Place Winner in the 2002 Opera Columbus Vocal Competition and was a national finalist in the Lotte Lenya Vocal Competition in Also active on the musical theatre stage, Wilkowske's performance of Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris was called "chilling" and "deeply moving" by the St. Paul Pioneer Press, and his performance in the world premiere of Sleeping Beauty with the Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati earned him a nomination for a Cincinnati Entertainment Award in Other crossover credits include Bravo Broadway!, a concert of Broadway favorites with Opera Roanoke. His future engagements include the role of Yamadori in Madama Butterfly with the Los Angeles Opera, as well as covering the role of Sharpless and Count Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro. This summer he returns to Glimmerglass Opera to cover the role of the Major General in The Pirates of Penzance. Wilkowske has participated in the Merola Opera Program, Glimmerglass Opera's Young American Artist Program, and the Minnesota Opera Resident Artist Program. He is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, College- Conservatory of Music (CCM), earning an Artist Diploma in Opera and a Master's degree in Voice, and earned his Bachelor's degree in Voice from the University of Minnesota Duluth. Paul Floyd, piano Paul Floyd is active throughout the southwest as an accompanist, vocal coach, chamber player and recitalist. He is currently in his sixth year as an Assistant Conductor for Los Angeles Opera, and for the past seven summers has served in a similar capacity at the Santa Fe Opera. His education includes the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano from the University of Colorado, Boulder as well as degrees from the Eastman School of Music and the University of Southern California. When not seated at the piano, he can be found riding the waves at his favorite break.
