5 Discussion: Catherine would like to add the location of the course to the endorsement. We might also want to consider that if a course is endorsed for one location, then it could be approved for other locations. This could be added to the agenda. MOVED THAT we agree in principal to allow institutions to apply for post-level III course endorsement, in advance of the course start-date. 6 An institution may apply before the commencement of a course, on behalf of all Level III graduates taking the course, to have that course recognized as a Post Level III course. Individual students taking such an endorsed course must still apply to the Endorsement Committee Chair for a Letter of Confirmation to use the course as a Post Level III component. An institution may not retroactively apply to have a course recognized as a Post Level III course. An institution must be a member of Carl Orff Canada or pay a $40 fee to apply for endorsement of a course for Post Level III. POST LEVEL III COURSE ENDORSEMENT APPLICATION FORM This application may be completed by an individual student or an institution on behalf of all Level III graduates taking the course. Before completing the application please read the Post Level III Guideline to ensure the course meets all criteria. Please be aware the course may not be approved. 8 Received Please this completed form to Chair of the Endorsement Committee. Membership See verified OR fee received All applications will be considered within six weeks of receipt. Sent to Committee Communication Rejected 29-May 1, Course Endorsement fee for non-member institutions has been raised from $40 to $50. Discussion: If a course is endorsed in one location can it then be approved in another location? Would this be automatic? What sort of documentation would COC require? It was agreed that it is still good to have institutions or individuals go through the established process. It was noted that AOSA doesn t endorse courses, but they endorse instructors, so that no matter where an instructor teaches, the course is endorsed if they are. Our practice is that if the course has been previously endorsed, the course for the next year simply has to apply for renewal, which is a less extensive process. (If there is a new instructor, the renewal form has to include instructor information on that new instructor only). It was also noted that we have far fewer courses running than AOSA, and it seems that our system has been running smoothly. MOVED THAT we contact all course directors to submit a new course endorsement application to accommodate the new course guidelines. This would be done in the fall of for courses offered in January (Marlene Hinz, Catherine West) Courses: September 1, to August 31, Date Institution Course Director Comments Endorsement Jan. 10 University of Manitoba Levels I, II & III Joan Linklater Summer Jan. 10 Royal Conservatory of Level I Catherine West Spring Feb. 10 Chapitre Orff-Québec Level I & Level II Françoise Grenier Summer March 10 Royal Conservatory of Levels I, II and III Catherine West Summer March 10 Regina University Level I Denise Morstad Summer March 10 Vancouver Community College Levels I, II, and III Pam Hetrick Summer March 10 University of Alberta Levels I, II, & III Dr. Robert De Frece Summer 10 Nova Scotia Level I & Level II James Jackson Summer 10 St. Thomas University Level I Martin Kutnowski Summer 10 Calgary Orff Chapter Levels I, II, & III Debra Giebelhaus- Maloney Summer IIIM1b Canadian Orff Schulwerk Courses-Course Endorsement Page 8

Action: Marlene will contact Carrie, get access to the AOSA website, check out their endorsement and bring it forward to the February meeting and the ad hoc meeting in. Action: James will contact the course directors and ask how they would feel if we moved to an endorsement of individual Levels instructors rather than courses. 24, 2015 National Executive Meeting 5.5 Endorsement record concerns Endorsement records will be placed in the Archives along with the old conference binders. 6.1 Endorsement - James Jackson Concerns about the endorsement process in regards to time spent on special topics and the instructor versus course endorsement was raised. The Committee has received and endorsed Levels Course Applications from U of M, RCM, Orff Quebec, U of A, Orff NS and VCC to date. The Committee is also currently considering an application for a Post Level 3 Certificate in which the candidate has already taken the courses and is seeking our post course endorsement. A second similar file is about to arrive. I am currently investigating the AOSA guidelines for instructor endorsement which we may consider changing to from our current practice of course endorsement. Respectfully submitted: James Jackson Endorsement Committee, Chair Levels Update The Endorsement Committee will send out a letter and form to Course Directors seeking information about Special Topics in the Orff Levels Guidelines. This information will be compiled for further consideration. IIIM1b Canadian Orff Schulwerk Courses-Course Endorsement Page 13

Action: James will remind the Course Directors to submit their updates to Joanne using the correct format. 4.1 Non-endorsed Level I course being offered in Quebec There are both a COC endorsed Level I course and a non-endorsed Level II course happening in Quebec. If someone takes the non-endorsed Level I course, they will not be allowed to take a Level II course, since they will not have the pre-requisite endorsed Level I course. Action: James and Joanne will construct a note for the website to emphasize the advantages of taking an endorsed Levels course (in English and French), such as being able to continue on to other Levels and the network of support.
