Students in grade Pre K to 6th grade will share holiday songs and a performance by the Holy Family Band and Chorus. Third grade students will present the story of Mary, Joseph and their journey to Bethlehem for the very first Christmas. It is a splendid evening filled with the beautiful spirit of the season. New Heights Dance Theater, a Resident Dance Company of Clemens Center is proud to present a family friendly holiday classic featuring classical ballet, jazz, tap and acrobatics, with outstanding scenery and incredible special effects with an electrifying black-light scene. Join Clara as she welcomes her friends and their families in a holiday celebration where a special person comes with gifts that come alive. The party is over and the house is quiet or is it? Be with Clara as she meets the Magic Wisps, the Mouse Queen and her mischief mice along with the beautiful Snow Queen. The magical journey continues through the Land of the Sweets, where Clara meets a Spanish Senorita, an Arabian Princess, a Chinese Tumblers, the lovely Mother Ginger & her Gingersnaps, lots of high kicking Russians, Marzipan and her adorable sheep and the beautiful Gardeness dancing in her garden during Waltz of the Flowers. The magic continues with the arrival of the Sugar Plum Fairy. Come experience a wonderful rendition of a timeless classic.

Clemens Center present THE HOT SARDINES Friday, January 13, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. Named one of the best Jazz bands in New York today by Forbes magazine, The Hot Sardines is born of a unique musical recipe: take hot jazz and sultry standards from the 20 s, 30 s, and 40 s, sprinkle in the rich Dixieland sounds of New Orleans, add a dash of wartime Paris flavor, and infuse a wealth of vibrant musical surprises that hold audiences captive long after the show ends. Highlights include appearances on CBS Saturday Morning and Later with Jools Holland in the UK, as well as orchestral debuts with the Boston Pops and the gala reopening of the Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center. Their debut album produced by Grammy winner Eli Wolf went to #1 on the itunes Jazz charts in the US and UK, and their sophomore album released in June, French Fries & Champagne, includes When I Get Low, I Get High, featuring Tony-Award Winner Alan Cumming. Clemens Center presents THE CASHORE MARIONETTES LIFE IN MOTION in Mandeville Hall Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. Unmatched in artistry, grace and refinement of movement, the internationally acclaimed Cashore Marionettes redefine the art of puppetry. Set in the Clemens Center s intimate setting of Mandeville Hall, two shows are being offered, with a close-up view for a very different experience! Fun for Everyone! In the performance Life in Motion, Joseph Cashore presents his collection of marionette masterworks. Characters of depth, integrity, and humanity are portrayed in a full evening unlike anything else in theater today. The performance is a series of scenes taken from everyday life and set to beautiful music by composers such as Beethoven, Vivaldi, Strauss, and Copland. Through a combination of virtuoso manipulation, humor, pathos, classic music, and poetic insight, The Cashore Marionettes take the audience on a journey that celebrates the richness of life. Life in Motion is a powerful, entertaining, surprising, theatrically satisfying, one-of-a-kind evening for adults and young adults. Recommended for ages 12 and up. Show Length: 75 minutes

5 Clemens Center presents THE CASHORE MARIONETTES SIMPLE GIFTS in Mandeville Hall Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. and Sunday, January 15, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. Unmatched in artistry, grace and refinement of movement, the internationally acclaimed Cashore Marionettes redefine the art of puppetry. Set in the Clemens Center s intimate setting of Mandeville Hall, two shows are being offered, with a close-up view for a very different experience! Fun for Everyone! The program, Simple Gifts, is a series of touching portrayals and poignant scenes from everyday life set to stunning music by such composers as Vivaldi, Strauss, Beethoven and Copland. Through a combination of virtuoso manipulation, beautiful music, theatrical illusion, and artistic insight, the original vignettes presented in Simple Gifts provide an entertaining and sensitive vision of what it is to be human. The performance explores a range of emotions with characters and actions that are amazingly convincing. The marionettes are engineering marvels and the quality of movement is extraordinary. Recommended for families, kids 8 and older. Show Length: 60 minutes A Clemens Center Mary Tripp Marks School-Time Series production performed by Flamenco Vivo/Carlota Santana Spanish Dance Company FIESTA FLAMENCO Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. This dynamic program highlights the universal language of dance, with the rhythms and emotions of flamenco, a dance style originating in Southern Spain. Bringing the essence of the different cultures that influenced flamenco: Gypsy, North African, Arabic and Judaic to life, each artist performs in friendly competition to show their unique style in how they move their arms, create rhythm with their feet, or display their feelings. Accompanied by guitarra (guitar) and cante (song), the dancers add to the music and rhythm with castanets, footwork and rhythmic hand claps. Recommended for grades 3-8 (55 minutes) Clemens Center presents FLAMENCO VIVO/CARLOTA SANTANA Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. The Flamenco art form, through its purity, rhythms and intensity strikes a visceral chord for audiences of all ages, all cultures, and with all degrees of experience with the arts.

6 Carlota Santana co-founded the company in 1983 with the mission of using Flamenco not only as an art form but as a way to build bridges between cultures. Experiencing a Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana performance, the audience clearly feels the diverse influences which have shaped this exuberant form of dance and music, including contributions from Gypsy, Judaic, Arabic, Spanish and Latino culture. Poema de Andalucía is a journey through the alluring and mysterious traditions of the Andalusian provinces, the southern region of Spain known as the cradle of flamenco. Despite their proximity, many stylistic differences exist between the regions, cities and neighborhoods.
