3 THE CMPSER Gary Gazlay as born in Pueblo, Colorado in He gre up in Pinellas County, lorida and began studying piano at the age o ive. Due to the positive inluence o his unior and high school band directors, he chose a career as a music teacher. Mr. Gazlay attended the University o South lorida and ater graduating rom college in 197, he moved to Madison, lorida and began his teaching career in the Madison County lorida Public School System. He has taught music or the past 38 years at the adult, high school, middle school and elementary levels. He currently teaches instrumental music at Madison County Central School located in Madison lorida. In 1979 the Madison High School Band under his direction as selected and perormed at the Macy s Thanksgiving Day Parade. In 2011 and 2012 his anares or brass ere selected as one o the inners o the Dallas Wind Symphony anare Competition. Mr. Gazlay is a member o ASCAP, NAME, lorida Bandmasters Association, lorida Music Educators Association, The National Band Association, The International Horn Society, and Pi Mu Alpha Sinonia. 3 THE CMPSITIN Milestone March as composed or the 6th grade band members o the Madison County Central School Bands, Milestone March is dedicated to my oldest sister Nancy Arias, o Scottsdale, Arizona. or over 50 years e have shared the rich blessings o music, amily and aith ith one another. The unbreakable bond that e share together continues to encourage me and I am truly thankul and richly blessed to have her as my sister. It is my hope that Milestone March ill provide students ith a song that they ill enoy learning to play and provide other music educators ith a teaching tool that can be used in helping to motivate and encourage their students.
