1 Lennart Wman 2005 Lapides for solo tenor and to electronic parts recorded on CD durata: 5:10 Lapides ven sonantis verbi habentes Stones, carrying the ind of the sounding ord All latin lyrics in the piece are from Hildegard of Bingen s Liber Divinorum Operum I dedicate Lapides to: * Gotland * my ife * tenor Conny Thimander Lennart Wman
2 Lapides General comments: The sound material of the to recorded electronic parts consists of four (collected at the Sherry bay outside the medieval city isby on the Sedish island Gotland) and singing in latin performed by tenor Conny Thimander. The score is a representation of: the solo performance part the recorded singing voices - distributed on to parts cue parts of the sounds - distributed on to parts The cue parts are there in order to give guidance to the performer. They are notated in the same staves as the to tape voice parts. They do not represent precise pitch, primarily giving rhythmic guide lines to the performer, neither are the rhythms exact notated. And they do not represent all the events that may sound simultaneously, but only those hich are important for the performer s success. Sometimes onomatopoetic ords are used in these parts, such as plong and pling, but for the most part the sounds are described in ords, in italics. General comments to solo performer: The articulation is a mixture of hisperings, speech-song and singing. reedom is left to the interpreter as to exact synchronization ith the electronic parts. Hoever, he should of course follo the meter of the piece and hopefully be open to an expressful dialogue ith the electronic parts' gures and sound objects; hence intensifying the interaction beteen the to parts. An example of this is the letter s, hich on various occasions should interpolate ith similar sounds in the tape part. Solo performance lyrics in latin: Rationalitas sum, ven sonantis verbi habens I am the potent cause, carrying the ind of the sounding ord...ut de lapidibus... as of Lapides ven sonantis verbi habentes, carrying the ind of the sounding ord Lennart Wman isby in May, 2005
3 Lapides by Lennart Wman The folloing latin lyrics occur in the piece: Lapides, ven sonantis verbi habentes Stones, carrying the ind of the sounding ord Rationalitas sum, ven sonantis verbi habens I am the potent cause, carrying the ind of the sounding ord Omne vitale de me radica In me the life force has it source Integra vita sum, quae de lapidibus abscissa non I am the totality of life, that hasn't been carved free of the stone
