7 Performance Notes n this song image of Lord, shepherd feeding his flock, is combined with three texts from different places in Old and New Testaments. t beginning of Verses 1 and 2 (and in middle of Verse 3) sudden entrance of C chord should be accompanied by sudden strength in melody, showing shepherd as one who is gentle yet strong and forceful ( myself will shepherd m, and Take my yoke... ) The Refrain, each time it returns, exhibits again calmness and gentleness of Lord s care. soloist may sing Verses, with assembly entering on Refrain. SMPL The guitar picking pattern should be steady with little change of tempo until very end. The C chord is very important to structure of song and can be played in any number of ways (see Guitar Chord Charts). The first chart shows configuration which gives most satisfactory sound.
