1 Kent State University Catalog MUSIC - B.A. College of the Arts School of Music E0 Center f the Perfming Arts Kent Campus schoolofmusic@kent.edu Description The Bachel of Arts degree in Music gives music majs an opptunity to study music and liberal arts with an optional min, available in most academic areas of the university, as a dual degree program with a maj in another field. Although not as music intensive as the Bachel of Music degree, the B.A. degree includes study on a main instrument and ensemble participation throughout the program. The Music maj includes the following optional concentrations: The Contempary Popular Music concentration provides students the opptunity to study contempary instruments such as electric guitar, electric bass and voice, as well as participate in a variety of styles including rock, pop, Motown and other popular styles. The Jazz Studies concentration provides students the opptunity to study jazz improvisation, arranging and composing. Fully Offered At: Kent Campus Stark Campus (Contempary Popular Music concentration only) Accreditation The B.A. degree in Music is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music. Admission Requirements The university affirmatively strives to provide educational opptunities and access to students with varied backgrounds, those with special talents and adult students who graduated from high school three me years ago. Admission to this maj is selective. Students must audition befe being admitted to the Music maj. NOTE: University requirements may be fulfilled in this program by specific course requirements. Please see Program Requirements f details. Destination Kent State: First Year Experience Course is not required f students with 5 transfer credits, excluding College Credit Plus, age + at time of admission. Diversity Domestic/Global (DIVD/DIVG) Students must successfully complete one domestic and one global course, of which one must be from the Kent Ce.
