Parents and older kids are also welcome to participate. Best for ages Bubble Wand Wonder Presented by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission Make your own personalized bubble wand and turn it into a work of art. Front Plaza Instrument Petting Zoo Presented by the National Association for Music Education Collegiate Chapter #225 Try out a woodwind, brass or string instrument! Whether you have some musical experience or have never played a note, our petting zoo is a great opportunity for all ages to pick up and play a new instrument. Applause Seating Area Light Lab Open House Get hands-on with the latest stage lighting technology in UMD's state-of-the-art Light Lab. Learn about the exciting field of lighting design and the technology used in today's Broadway shows from professional designers and MFA students in an informal Q&A. Best for ages 8+. Light Lab MFA Design Showcase This exhibition showcases the theatrical design work of MFA Design candidates from idea to final product. Explore the behind-the-scenes creation process of The Schooling of Bento Bonchev through an informal "show and tell" with the designers. All Day Heavy Metal Parking Lot Exhibit Presented by the "Heavy Metal Parking Lot: The 30-Year Journey of a Cult Film Sensation" tells the story of two aspiring filmmakers, Jeff Krulik and John Heyn, who struck cultural gold in the parking lot of the Capital Centre in Landover, Maryland, on May 31, It charts the film's subsequent path into the hearts of fans, filmmakers, musicians, actors, artists and scholars during the last 30 years. The exhibit will also highlight other materials in the Jeff Krulik Collection (BA, UMD, 83), which was accessioned by Special Collections in Mass Media & Culture at the University of Maryland in November All Day UNITY Interactive Installation Presented in partnership with Leadership and Community Service-Learning Add your perspective to this interactive public art project, a larger-than-life canopy structure that celebrates each individual s unique identities while demonstrating that we are all interconnected. Dekelboum Concert Hall 10:30-11:30AM The Book of Qualities: Poetry in Motion The vast range of human emotions comes to life in this performance incorporating theatre, dance, voice and movement. Participants will see hidden gems from the library's archives and special collections, and will learn about how the public can access the library.

Cafritz Foundation Theatre 12:30-1:15PM Terry Riley: Olson III Presented by TEMPO New Music Ensemble Terry Riley's innovative piece Olson III utilizes flexible instrumentation and is composed of small modules that must be performed in order and in tempo, though the number of repetitions of these modules is left up to the individual performers. The resulting cacophony is an amorphous mass of overlapping modules that build throughout a performance of the piece. 12:30-1:30PM Maryland Community Band Enjoy classic American fare and international repertoire including big band, Broadway and film music.
