1 Analysis of Beethoven s Symphony Nr.1, 1st movement (Unit 1). Mock exam. Practise essay writing. Analysing and comparing the elements of music (Unit 1). During Year 11 the students will be taught/revised music theory yo enable them to study and analyse the 12 Set Works. This is an ongoing topic which will be delivered throughout both Year 10 and 11. The topic will cover the themes listed below

Major scales building and notating major scales from C, G,D and F, Bb notes Time signatures: simple and compound. Triplets, dotted rhythms Treble, bass, alto and tenor clef notation Intervals Aural exercises including sightsinging Notating and performing C, G and F major scales using treble and bass clef (ascending and descending) Chords building triads (Primary and Secondary) from different notes of a major scale. Root position, 1 st and 2 nd inversions. Recognising cadences Perfect, Imperfect, Interrupted, Plagal Any music theory relevant to the studied Set Works
