1 2Ot8 MHS Drumline Auditions Listed below are all of the guideline that you will need for a successful audition for your spot within the 2018 MHS Drumline. Please remember the audition dates for band: ' May PM. May PM. May PM. May PM All students need to be present and ready to play at 5 PM. We will be playing outside so you need to dress appropriately. The correct attire for these camps is: ) Athletic shorts...no JEANS > T-shirt - something you don't mind getting sweaty in F Tennis shoes o No dress shoes, boots, sandals, flip flops, or bare feet...we WILL BE MOVING DUING THIS CAMP ) A bottle of water F Sunglasses, hat, & sunscreen You will also need to have the attached packet in clear plastic sheets in a ring binder. Have your music already in the binder by the first camp. The attached music packet contains all of the audition etudes and exercises for Snare Drum, Tenors, Bass Drum, and Front Ensemble. You will need to prepare the exercises and etudes for the instrument you want to audition on. The etudes (including cuts and tempos) included are:. Snare Drum and Tenors - Undertow (E-end) played at Quarter Note= Bass Drum - Bass Drum Audition Etude (All) Quarter Note = Front Ensemble - o Marimba - Andante (m. 17 beat three-m. 4 beat 1) Quarter Note = 82 o All other Front Ensemble Positions - Allegro from Concerto in A Minor (pick-ups to A-first not in C) Quarter Note=110

2 o To be considered for Marimba, you must play Andante. lf you are not auditioning for a Marimba spot, you do not need to learn Andante. A few important things to remember:. Your preparation for these auditions is VEY IMPOTANT. The better you prepare, the better you will audition.. lf you are auditioning for the battery, you must be able to mark time to EVEY exercise in your packet. lf you are auditioning for the Battery, you must have a pair of Marching Snare Sticks. Concert and drum set sticks are not appropriate for this audition.. Every spot is open. No spot is reserved for any student. You will be placed in the spot the staff feels will benefit you and the group the most.. Every spot is important. You might not get the spot you originally hoped, however you are still needed and valuable to the ensemble. You will be the only person in your spot, no parts are doubled.. lt is very important that you come with a positive attitude and you are ready to to work..
