Create various sizes (i.e. 5 swabs, 10 swabs, etc) Paint using individual swabs and bundles. Allow to dry. Have children take turns pulling slips of paper and acting out the descriptions (without props). Younger children might have to act out descriptions as a group along with teacher guidance. Add paint to paper using squeeze bottles. Overlay painted surface with plastic wrap. Using fingers and hands, manipulate the paint under the plastic. Lift off plastic for final artwork. Let dry. Use collage materials to embellish cd. Paint printed side of cd if desired. Add string for hanging. 5 Sign Language August 2017 COW Tap thumb of Y hand on temple several times. FROG The 2 hand is held palm down under the chin, then the fingers bend and flick off of the thumb. The final position is shown with the fingers outstretched. BIRD The index finger and thumb are held together at the lips. They snap open and closed, like a birds beak. HORSE The closed 2 hand with thumb extended touches the side of forehead, with fingers waving up and down FLY The base arm is held with the elbow bent. The claw action hand sweeps down to tough the base arm and closes into an s hand, as if catching a fly. FISH Flat base hand is held sideways with the fingertips touching the flat action hand at the wrist. The action hand move forward, wiggling slightly, like a fish swimming from SIGN with your BABY ~ Dr. Joseph Garcia
6 Culinary Arts August 2017 Children will do two cooking activities per month in the classroom using Bright Horizons recipe cards or other recipes that connect with projects within the classroom. Some recipes are not appropriate for each age group. Some recipes may require substitutions for allergies. Details can be found on the daily activity sheets.
