I Can t Really Teach Music This CPD session is intended for KS1 curriculum teachers who lack confidence in teaching music. Led by KS1 music education specialist, Fiona Kenward, this session is designed to build confidence and provide dozens of practical ideas and activities which can be used straight away in the classroom. Fiona will help to explore the inter-related dimensions of music with instruments, singing, experimental play, composition and basic rhythm reading. 6

The session is designed to boost your confidence teaching whole-class instrumental lessons and provide you with tips and tricks to use in your own teaching, as well as how to use the new MusicPlus framework, observe and reflect on successful lessons and share good practice. There will be two more opportunities to attend Introduction to MusicPlus at our conferences - see page 4. Thu 24 Jan 2019 Cornwallis Suite Masonic Centre ME15 6LF Led by Penelope Manser KS2, MusicPlus Singing in the Classroom This session is for anyone using singing in MusicPlus or KS2 lessons. Discover ways to improve singing in the classroom to support your MusicPlus lessons and vocal ensembles. Explore leadership techniques, learn how to teach new repertoire and how to sing in a healthy way. Please bring your favourite song or warm up to share with others in the group. 7

Instruments on display will range from bespoke technology including Skoog, Beamz and ipads, as well as hackable music tech such as BBC Microbit and Raspberry Pi. The focus will be on how technology can be used to increase inclusion in music lessons and promote musical expression and creativity. Thu 24 Jan 2019 Cornwallis Suite Masonic Centre ME15 6LF Led by Soundabout Music and Autism An introduction on devising music sessions for students with autism and its associated conditions in a music education environment. 14 Other Services for Schools from Kent Music Our Music Teachers Our team of over 100 specialist music teachers are available to deliver music in your school for: Individual or small group lessons Whole class teaching Leading ensembles and choirs Continuation lessons for students who have completed their MusicPlus year PPA cover Workshops Our Commitment to Schools and Education Providers Kent Music offers experienced music teachers, without the school incurring employment costs or overheads (including IR35 NI costs for schools engaging intermediaries) Our teachers are subject to a monitoring (quality assurance) system and are supported with a training programme throughout the year, including mandatory and regular Child Protection training All staff working with children and young people have a current enhanced disclosure through the Disclosure & Barring Service Contact your Area Leader or our Customer Services team on to find out more. 14

The Kent Music Bursary provides financial support to 5-18 year olds, living in Kent and Medway who meet the financial criteria.
