1 Symphonic / Region After-School Rehearsal Schedule :45 Clarinet 2:45 Horn 2:45 Oboe/Sax 2:45 Trumpet 2:45 Flute 2:45 Bassoon Prior to the impact of Hurricane Harvey, we would have started weekly after-school rehearsals for all members of Symphonic Band the week of September 4. These rehearsals are required, graded rehearsals. They are specifically grouped by instrument. During these rehearsals, we work on individual tone and approach to the instrument, technique, scales and region music in preparation for the Region Band Auditions. Due to the widespread impact on families, we want to make sure that we are both sensitive to families' needs during this time and provide the best music education that our kids deserve. We sent out a survey earlier this week to families gauging the possibility of starting these rehearsals. While we did not hear back from all families, the ones who did expressed an interest in starting. I gave students a similar survey so I could customize our schedule (as I do every year) around the students other activities. Above is our schedule for the week of September 18. All rehearsals are for one hour. These are required, graded rehearsals. However, we continue to be sensitive to the needs of our families. Please communicate any concerns regarding this schedule or your child s participation. I prefer communication via so we can visit back and forth. I am happy to talk on the phone. However, I am rarely in my office to receive phone calls. I do ask that communication happens as early as possible, as it is more difficult to be flexible when dealing with last-minute requests. We have a relationship with the coaches and theater department that we get students pulled from those after-school practices for one hour for band rehearsals. Students are expected to return to those practices at the conclusion of our rehearsals. As we get into the reality of students needs, we will publish a complete schedule through the first part of November.
